Torghast and Legendaries
Lack of Rewards in Torghast
-
There’s still more stuff they want to roll out to Torghast.
-
There’s 12 new achievements, new mounts and pets, new cosmetics.
-
They’re talking about what they can add to the Adamant Vaults.
-
A big focus is on the replayability of Torghast. Adding the meta progression, a new scoring system should be coming in Patch 9.1 to help.
-
The score system was lacking elements, and they’re gotten a lot of feedback on it.
-
No plans to update Twisting Corridors
-
No plans to allowing leveling in Torghast for 9.1. Maybe for a .5 patch in the future, sounds cool.
Speed in Torghast
-
Speed is one aspect of mastery. It should not be the only element of Mastery.
-
Speed is one of their goals when redesigning Torghast, so it’s baked into things like the Streak Bar.
-
Torghast Knowledge is a rolling Season cap, similar to Valor and Conquest.
Torments
-
The torment that reduces your % Max Health over time is removed internally.
-
There’s no plans to have the ability to remove Torments. They don’t turn on until some of the later layers.
Legendaries
-
Costs are not reduced for Rank 1 through 4.
-
They’re increasing the amount of Soul Ash earned from doing layers by 50% instead.
-
You can also get smaller amounts on repeat wins.
-
There’s also transferring Soul Ash to alts.
Class Balance
Class Philosophy
-
They want to do more hands-on tuning.
-
They want to avoid nerfs outside of the first couple weeks, and buff the more underperforming specs. This is especialy important when you spend currency for your legendaries.
-
There’s substantial stuff coming to Death Knight PvP talents
-
There’s some Mistweaver numerical stuff happening too.
-
Holy Paladin damage tuning coming soon…
-
Other changes coming soon as well.
Encounter Design
-
Class Design discusses often with Encounter Design and Combat Design.
-
Encounter Design has a huge effect on Class Balance.
-
There could be add fights, or lack of add fights or what happens if there’s no Sludgefist this tier.
Specific Class Tuning
-
There’s multiple types of problems: There’s a tuning problem and a design problem.
-
Holy Priest could be tuned up, but they redesigned one of their buttons instead and maybe give them a new niche.
-
Mistweaver has some numerical changes coming.
-
Holy Paladin damage is getting some adjustments. There is some venthyr changes to Ashen Hallow. There’s also some changes to Holy Power generation and how you’re healing.
-
AMZ is something that they’re looking at. Something like a cap that the amount of damage it can absorb.
-
Some of the DoT classes were doing the best on single target fights, which is weird, so they’re shifting their damage profile.
Raid Utility
-
Raid CDs like AMZ and Rally are good as unique utility. They want every class to have a reason that they’re in the raid. More work has to be done on their part.
-
They want to live in a world where everyone brings their own thing, rather than a world where everything in homogenized.
-
Rogues used to be brought a lot to end bosses. But on the encounter side, they tried to shore up weaknesses in being able to Immunity and delete a mechanic which may have caused Rogues to lose their niche.
Conduits
- Conduits will go up with item level.
Raid
BoEs
-
They missed the mark in Nathria" resulting in too much power inflation coming from BoEs in the 9.0 raid
-
They’re looking at reducing the number of slots that are covered by BoEs: 2 or 3 slots.
Weapon Tokens
-
Weapon Tokens were made to provide Covenant-transmog weapons off of Denathrius.
-
In Sanctum of Domination, you will take her bow off her corpse.
-
The loot layout is intentional and mostly finished. No plans to provide more weapons off the final two bosses, to shore up the specs that don’t have a weapon off the final two bosses.
Loot
- Pretty happy with 4 pieces of loot per boss. Might have gone a bit too far.
Shards of Domination
-
There’s 5 Domination Sockets that you can get across your gear.
-
There’s 3 types of gem types: Blood, Frost and Unholy.
-
The individual bonus of each gem will work anywhere.
-
When you equip 3 of the same type, you’ll get a “set bonus” that will only work in the Maw.
Miscellaneous Questions
-
No plans to change 20 man Mythic raid.
-
No mini-raids this expansion, but they’re open to doing it in the future.
-
Is the Jailer the final boss of the expansion. “Who else will it be? I wanna punch the Jailer”
-
No Mythic-only phase in Sylvanas. The big story elements for an expansion should be played out in the raid.
Mythic+
Keystones and Affixes
-
They agree with the feedback that they’ve got with Keystones and getting the dungeons they want. Nothing to announce.
-
Blizzard is starting explore affixes with kiss/curse with the Seasonal affixes.
-
Maybe they want to completely revisit one of the buckets if things play out well.
Mythic+ Rating
-
If someone’s Mythic+ rating increases in a Mythic+ you complete, you will receive bonus Valor in the chest at the end.
-
Nothing to announce for the high-end rewards, but with the Rating system in place, they are able to look at who has the highest score in a season.
Quick Fire
-
Increased Catch-up system for 40 Renown
-
Release Date for 9.1: Soon
-
500 Mount Achievement: Unknown
-
Planned changes to Great Vault, minor e.g. changes to jewellery for PvP.
-
Heirlooms not for 9.1
Feedback
-
They want to walk the fine line of catch-up and participate in activities but also undermine the time that people have put into the game.
-
Interviews are a good line of communication and they think they can do this earlier in the patch as well.
Morgan is most excited to just get this content into player’s hands.
