So 11.2.5 just destroyed my WoW.exe?

Was playing yesterday just perfectly. I go to play today, Bnet launcher patches the game and now it won’t launch at all. I go to my install folder and find that my WoW.exe no longer has it’s icon and even when I try to manually launch the game, Windows (10 x64) tells me the App can’t run on my PC and to contact the publisher.

What?

I’ve run a scan/repair through the launcher and that didn’t help.
I’ve cleared my WTF/Cache Folders and that didn’t help either.
Short of completely reinstalling WoW, I’m not sure what to do, but this patch has rendered the game unplayable for me. :sob:

Your Battle.net app is broken, YES, it doesn’t fix it by itself, you need to do it manually

You need to do only the Battle.net app part, but still recommend do 2.+3. of Deleting Cache in WoW

Thank you for your reply, Archon, and your suggestion. I did try this method but sadly it didn’t resolve the issue. The WoW.exe was still essentially ‘dead’ or corrupted somehow.

My last thought after trying your method, however (and I’m not entirely sure why I didn’t think of this before), was to delete the WoW.exe and see if the Repair tool would simply re-download the file. Thankfully it did and I’m now back in the game (with the bonus of a squeaky clean Battle.net App  )

I will bookmark your guide though as my partner has had the “scanning loop” issue with the launcher on and off for a few years, and that is very useful information to have to hand in case it reoccurs, so again, thank you very much for your advice with this issue.

mark it as solution

when you delete cache for battle-net app , it will help even with download speed, and it definitely help to fix that “scan and repair” will work with the newest version
few day ago, they had some corruption, and people didn’t see option for their retail account(if they had multiple), this full reinstall does help with that

That’s quite interesting and good to know for the future.

I’ve marked your method as a solution, thanks again for your help! :muscle:
