So, does report AFK in BG actually do anything anymore?

I’ve been watching this one loser rogue being AFK for 15minutes now in WSG, stealth at corner of the map. He doesnt seem to get the debuff of non-participation where you need to enter PvP combat within a timeframe to remove it. Is that not a thing anymore? If not, then whats the purpose of report AFK, since it does nothing?

Doesn’t the debuff go away as soon as the person who is AFK enters any type of combat? In that case he can then just go back to being AFK.

I believe that is how it worked back in like I dunno TBC. But now it does seem like no debuff comes up at all. Is it maybe gated behind X number of AFK reports from different players? No idea.

I’m not sure but an official Blizzard reply on this would be appreciated.

It’s frustrating to encounter players who are AFK in battlegrounds, and you’re right that the non-participation debuff is intended to address this issue. However, it’s possible that there are ways players are circumventing the system or that there might be a delay in the debuff application.

Reporting AFK players is still a valid action, and while it may not provide an immediate solution, consistent reporting helps draw attention to these issues for the game’s developers. If you haven’t already, consider reporting the player through the in-game reporting system and sharing your observations on official forums or community channels. This can contribute to ongoing discussions about improving anti-AFK measures in battlegrounds.
