So, how DO we fix the M+ community?

Let’s face it, the M+ experience is at an all-time low.

You want to run a +6 but get declined because you’re not overgeared enough and your rating isn’t in the +2000 mark.

From a DPS perspective, “just run your own key” is the kind of joke you tell your friends on discord after waiting half an hour for a 500 rating ilvl 590 tank that dies on the first boss and leaves instantly, bricking your already hopeless key.

“Just play the role you’re looking for yourself” is just an unrealistic solution that generates more problems when all you want to do is play your spec with other people that want to play their spec.

The game isn’t the issue, the community is.
Why am I declining people in my keys? Because if I get declined in every other key I tag, isn’t it only fair that I take the “best” of the best too?

So, how DO we fix it?

My solution to this would be a fair system on how we pick people in our keys, if they have your rating or ilvl (imo rating > ilvl in this delve-fest expansion), just give them a chance?

Would that be an idea worth trying?

Is there a better solution to this that doesn’t involve toxicity?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!

Move Mythic track vault gear to +9 and a lot of problems are solved. Getting invite into +10 is big problem for majority of people. I am looking at people online and a lot i mean a lot of people are just falling off and they just dont log in anymore. You need hours to join +10 and it take minutes to brick it.

Blizzard people are just murdering their own game by making stupid decidions like this.
I will just cancel my sub if this continues. Wallet vote ftw.

I always said this to people
cause i personally never had problem to put togher group for keys as DPS
but this season it’s horrible experience
Like i tried yesterday put together group for ARA +9 and there were like 2 dps players quing for it and i was there for 10 minutes waiting

By deleting it…

Sorry, but you’re not going to fix people that only play for the hard content and don’t give a murloc’s butt about any other content.

I remember the first week of M0’s…As a motivated Resto Druid i was grinding my gear thru renowns, feeling i was more than ready for a challenge! First, Ara-Kara. Tank dives thru 6 packs of mobs dies before i can even catch him let alone cast a heal. Same thing happens over and over again. I haven’t done a single M+ till this week till some of my old friends came back to play. Also met new people doing raiding and some heroics. Now i have a team to play with. Even managed to time a +5 Ara Kara while learning the mechanics and dying ofc. You can’t fix a community. You just make your own small group of friends & family. I won’t blame anyone. It’s been this way all along we just didn’t care back in the day because we had our own guilds to play with. Pugging can be managed with some luck and patience but i am not that guy. I either wipe a few times learn the mechanics by doing it and try harder slowly but steadily or just don’t pug it at all.

An idea would be to remove the timer.

people usually push trough wipe in the first weeks when only m0 is available because time is not of the essence

The little buffs ( making it a little harder) started to move this aspect further away from the casual scene.

Yes.

  • Reduce the difficulty to add more brackets.
  • Make gear aquisition easier
  • Give substancial rewards to tanking/healing. For example, Myth track gear drops that only they can use (to prevent DPS from abusing this system)
  • The 6 coins that are offered in the Vault should be able to buy you a gear upgrade from Champion to Vet. Or Hero to Myth.
  • Give keys 3 charges or allow us to buy upgrades with crests.
  • Allow us to buy dungeon re-rolls with crests.
  • When you time someone else’s key, your key also gets an upgrade.
  • Give a weapon that is only usable in M+. And you slowly upgrade it with AP or some other mechanic farmable in M+ ONLY (with catch up mechanics).
  • Normalize dispel mechanics and affixes.
  • Normalize raid buffs.
  • Change the 0.1% reward from “playerbase” to “per spec” to incentivize off-meta play.
  • Cap the damage modifier at some key-level where players almost get 1-shot but not quite. And double the HP gains from then on. This is to allow big damage so the healers have to work, but at the same time removing the 1-shot dilemma from the picture.

Those are the general changes. Specifically for this season :

  • Reduce mob damage by 20% to 30% flat. That would essentially scrap the key level squish. Notice I mentioned only damage. Not HP.
  • Scrap the 15s death affix. Or, atleast make the first 5 deaths cost nothing in the timer.
  • Scrap the Gile at +12. No need for this affix. Or keep it but then I want the kiss/curse affixes in higher keys too. But both is too punishing.

Those changes would improve the system.

NO. If you want to Raid then do so. M+ timer stays.

Find a way to make tanking/healing less of a pain in the a** in general.

These all sound like good ideas on paper, but I think they come with a lot of re-occuring issues and new issues:

Adding more brackets = even more grindy
Make gear acquisition easier = delves do thaf and it ruined early keys because people show up in 616 without any experience
give substancial rewards to tanking / healing = they’d have to HARD enforce the gear being useless when u swap to a DPS spec, but being able to re-spec is part of the game so they can’t
6 coins earn you gear upgrades = beats the point of M+, I would just run two +2s a week and take coins then
Give keys 3 charges = now that’s an idea, if the key has something like 3 lives or tries it would be a lot more interesting!
Buy dungeon re-rolls with crests = people would run the same dungeon over and over again so it would unbalance the distribution of dungeon groups
When you time someone’s key, it upgrades yours = would get hard-abused
Give a weapon that is only usable in M+ = sounds like legion AP weapons with a twist, and I don’t think it would fix anything
Normalize dispel mechanics and affixes = yes 100% to that
Normalize raid buffs = not sure what that means exactly

I could go on but there’s definitely some good ideas and removing the timer is just trying to solve an issue that is not one, I agree on that!

Easy fix. Stop having extra broken classes and useless classes .
Everyone can play the game and enjoy it.

I gave a short list with out much explanation. But I will give it to your mentions here. First, they don’t ALL have to happen at once, and some achieve the same objective.

What I mean by this is scrap the squish. And more brackets gives people something to work for, with a smooth appearance of progression.

What we have now is people getting hard-stuck on some key level. 5 weeks into the season. You want to extend that to 1 to 2 months. After which you can then choose to keep improving your skills or switch to an alt.

Basically, go back to the situation we had in S3 of DF. When participation was super-high.

And if they got that 616 in an M+ they would show up with some experience. So nerf gear acquisition so people do the M+2 to get that gear, instead of a delve.

But at the same time, it eases pressure from healing/tanking. I don’t see this as a problem. I see this as a very powerful incentive, and more healers/tanks == shorter quews.

So IMO as long as it gets the job done, they can scrap certain “part of the game” parts.

For example : If you want 6 coins to upgrade gear from Hero to Myth you would need to complete 8 10s. You cant just farm 8 +2 and get away with it.

So. Basically, every week you have a choice of 1 Myth Track item (IF you do 10s). OR… if nothing is an upgrade, then you have the option to upgrade an existing Hero to Myth track.

Its basically a 100% guarantee that you will get 1 gear upgrade per week. At the appropriate key level you have cleared of course.

Which means that you would take 15 weeks to get fully geared max ilvl, assuming you clear 10s the 1st week of the patch. Which is fair if you ask me.

Sure. But if you get 60 valorstones and 15 crest per timed dungeon. And you need 200 valorstones and 50 crests (of appropriate level) to change the dungeon type… you can do this only for so long.

Your alternative is to go to the minimum key level and farm that. So a +9 basically. And you would have to run it 5 times to get enough currency for 1 rerol.

Also, its a re-roll. Not a “choose your dungeon” situation. Its to prevent things like what happened last night : Me and my buddies had FOUR SoB keys and ONE Arakara. We time the arakara and guess what we get ? SoB !!! So give options to reroll some of them please.

It seems fair to me.

How ? Lets say I have a +9 key in my bag.

  • If I time someones +8 (or lower) nothing happens.
  • If I time someones +9 and he gets an upgrade to +10, so does mine.
  • If I time someones +10 and he gets an upgrade to +11, mine get upgraded to a +10.

This is how it would work.

Fair enough. The intention is to split Raid Gear and M+ gear to some degree.

2 examples :

  • Mages give 3% intellect. Warriors give 5% AP. Normalization == BOTH give 3% main stat.
  • Monks give 5% physical damage. DH give 3% magical damage. Normalization == BOTH give 3% DAMAGE.

In conclusion. Some of these suggestions are actual overlaps. Not everything would work at once. But if I had to choose which ones I would like to see as a priority it would be :

  • Buying key upgrades/charges.
  • Upgrading your key with someone’s timed key.
  • Class/Dungeon normalization.

Those would be #1 in my bucket list of stuff to do ASAP for S2.

Partly we don’t.

I mean, since they scaled up the difficulty you more have to play like it’s a key well above the old 10s. Meaning; interrupting, using defensives, proper use of cooldowns, knowing the mechanics, don’t ever stand in avoidable stuff, etc… But a lot of players in this game don’t seem to understand this concept. In the past, these players may never really reach content where this all mattered that much.

Add the bizarre health-scaling this season, where 10-12ilvl give you half a million HP…and you see quickly why people aim for as high ilvl as possible; even if they’re not perfect, they can simply make more mistakes due to their (much) bigger health pool. On a side-note, even the health pools should be normalized imo. Having the same ilvl but different specs and the same gear-type shouldn’t lead to a HP difference imo.

Make the content “easier” again so people can progress more smoothly, reduce the amount of heavy hitting (aoe) casts, have a grace period after a succesfully interrupted cast…, increase the amount of armor tanks have, tune down the (undispellable) debuffs heavily (or not depending on the first point here), get rid of the ilvl+hp bloat every bloody season, …

To fix the m+ situation, fix yourself first. Too many entitled attitudes that run at the first sight of danger.

Many people come to the forums with the same issue, so why don’t you group together for keys?

the answer is - you dont.

if you have alts then just chill on them in dvelves T8 - accept that 619 is your max itlv this season .

as your main pick either

tank - prot warrior
healer - resto shaman
1 dps slot - aug evoker
2 dps slot - frsot dk
3 dps slot - either arcane mage (preferably this ) or balance druid (if you are really really good on it ) or warlock

and push to +10s only on those.

Make M+ available by rank.

Bronze: +0 to +2. This will get you to X rating.

Once you reach X rating, you now become:

Silver, and can access +3 to +5. This will give you Y rating.

Gold, +6 to +8

Platinum, +9 to +11

Etc etc etc

Or change the numbers a bit there if you like, but this will keep players in their brackets of skill.
It is by far not a perfect system, but the current system makes us all stay in the same bag, and that makes up for a terrible community feeling.

I’m in my second week of this account, reached 1600 io and even though I am 2.1k in my US account, I don’t mind playing with 1600 players until I get enough runs to go up a rank.

It’s relatively simple…REMOVE THE TIMER

yeah - lets move it to exactly where mr Gromche is - this would instantly solve all the issues

not to +8 - thats where worst of worst are - not to +10 because thats where ultra chads are - they should move it to exaclty where you are atm

in 2-3 week mr Gromche will come here and tell " guys m+ is perfectly ok - im runign 10s now dont change anything "

i got that right yes ? :0

Remove keys, remove timer. Then there will be a reason to play m+
