About a week ago I bought a character name from a guy on Argent Dawn EU for a hefty sum of gold (6 digits) that I’ve been farming for a long time. Yesterday I’ve found out he’s been making a fortune this way on a couple of different servers, while I’m grinding Widowbloom and undecutting other players on AH for 1 silver. I guess it’s true, life sucks and than you die (as a poorboi).

So you paid at least 100k for the name Yuda? Even if that ain’t it, how stupidly vain… there are plenty of ways to circumvent used names using accents and what have you.

No, it’s a different name. I’ve always wanted it and I absolutely hate accents and other illidannxoxo stuff. The name was worth the gold, but damn if some people don’t have it easy.
If you think it is easy to hold a name on a server people are willing to pay for it - go do it.
Undercutting. Doesnt. Work.
Like seriously, there is literally 0 point to undercut with the current AH. Especially 1 silver for stuff like widowblooms. BoE undercutting by several thousands of gold yes, but not bloody 1s. The last placed item is always being bought first. So if there are 127384 widowblooms on the AH and you place 20 for the same price your 20 will be bought first unless someone else placed some in after yours

It does work, when everyone else also mindlessly undercuts, and then you buy up all the cheap stuff and resell or vendor them for profit. =)
There are way better ways to play the AH in that regard.
Im also fully aware of the people putting widowblooms etc on the Ah for 1g to bait people. People who i love given they get sniped by me instantly if they attempt to do it.

There are still so many unactive characters with cool names out there.
In SWTOR you can lose your character name if you are not subscriber and you dont use your character for 1-2 years. Dunno the rules in here. Im trying to get Kaloyan in Silvermoon and he is just low level guy who never play for 5-6 years - Im always checking him and even added him to my friends to see when he is online to ask him to give me the name.

Some names did free up at SL pre-patch release, I got a few of the ones I had wanted for years.
Here’s how you get a proper name, friend:
Assuming you want “Yuda” (or whatever) - that’s taken. Great. Now what?
“Yudah”. Yay, easy! “Yuhda”, “Juuda”, “Yuhdah” or whatever else. The main focus should be to keep your name easy to say AND write. Just play with variations of the name.
