So i got scammed!

Hey , don’t know if this is the right place to post this but im VERY pissed about something.

So , this is what happen to me just some minutes ago , i play this game since beta so im very old " costumer " i have 1020 mounts and im a collector , thing is …i have been pugging mythic + to 3000 but i have a new work and it consumes most of my time and even if im at 2700 im afraid i dont will have time and " luck" to pug it to 3000 so i decided to buy one of those boosts the SERVICES CHANNEL guys offers , i got someone i after the deal was made i traded the gold , 10 secs after he just logs off and it seems my gold is gone and blizzard wont help me , i mean…what justice is this ? Can we all just advertise things on SERVICES CHANNEL , and once you get a buyer , get the gold , log off , change name and repeat the process ? What about the " normal " people like me ? They get scammed and blizzard dont even reverse it and punish those people ? This makes me REALLY SAD , like i said…i play the game since beta , im over 40 year old and this is just sad to see this kind of behavior and what upsets me more is blizzard wont help me with this one its obvious a scam .

Ruined day …another sunday.

As always: If you get scammed, report the player, the player will get punished eventually

This has been like this since forever. Blizzards never refunds lost gold in those situations. Like banks don’t refund money after one got scammed.

It’s sad that people abuse those systems, but everytime money is involved, be it real of in a game, you get overrun by criminals.
No one can win this fight.

It sucks, yes, but the only thing you can do is to quadrouple check if the person is somehow trustworthy. In every situation in life.

Report it right away, you ‘might’ get the gold back.

With a very big “might”. It rarely, if at all, happens.

Once again: Treat service chat as if it’s always a scam.

Sure “B-b-but not everyone…” - a few bad apples spoils the barrel.
Legit boosters should come up with more accessible schemes, otherwise this is just another scammer.

Your own damn fault.

Also, the game needs some sort of note or warning when you use service chat, that’s for sure.
Something simple like: “Beware of scammers”, or “Do not give gold without any prove or before the service is done

Most online games I’ve played have these notifications in their trade chats.

Never trust other people. Especially not with this kind of thing.

That they don’t revert the gold, that’s been the case since forever (as you prob know). But they do punish cheaters/scammers/etc.

Blizzard won’t refund your gold. Far as they are concerned it’s a “buyer beware” and frankly, rightly so.

This is why you NEVER EVER hand over all the gold soon as you meet the seller. If they’re genuinely going to help you, 50% up front, 50% when you finish what you “paid” for.

If they want it all up front, tell them to sling their hook.

Sucks to be you, and you learned the hard way.

On the flipside, theres many discord communities (big ones) that offer boosts and such, that are legit. Should have looked into that a little bit, before trusting some random in ‘‘Service chat’’ .

Sorry about your Sunday.
I think banks do pay if the customer is scammed. I’d suppose it’s one of their few remaining obligations: To keep the money safe, including transactions.
But I don’t actually know.

Idk why such topic always start with “i play since vanila etc etc” like how does that matter ? This happening to new player would be any better or what ? Doesnt play any role .

And it doesnt play any role in blizz eyes either, they aint gona fall on their knees and revert you your gold just because u played since vanila

To an extent. If the transaction is “in progress”. Aka the money hasn’t physically left your account but its under “reserved” tab then yeah, banks can reverse the transaction.
But if the said money has physically left your account, then the banks cant simply walk into another guys account and “yoink” the money out…unless they got a court order to do so.

Never trust strangers, especially not during the mentioned conditions.

WoW is not some small neighbourhood where everyone knows everyone.

And because this, in most cases, is more expensive than the lost money (even if in 10ks) for banks, this mostly never happens. :dracthyr_nod:

Basically don’t trust the person if they’re 1-10 (a dk I’ve heard, for the 10s) or if they have no guild.

This depends mostly on in which country the scamming took place. In some countries bank doesn’t have to care, in some bank customers are well protected.

Fully deserved for boost buyer

You ‘morally cheat’ rating and complain you get scammed. Hardly an injustice.

It’s not a figh that can be won but it’s a fight that can be cotnrolled.

This all steams back to Blizzard decision to ignore toxicity in all forms that can’t be dealt with by auto reporting.

If Blizzard actually policed their game then there would be fewer booster and far fewer scammers.

Eh… banks do.
