So... I messed up jewelcrafting

I specced into shaping to make myself vials, then I chose jewelcrafting because I thought rings/necks would be a good side hustle.

However, every guide I’ve read since I did this says you need to pick gemcutting to skill up. So now I have 1 option to craft, a prism with a 20hr cooldown. Why can’t I play JC the way I want to and not be locked out because I didn’t choose the only option with skill up.

There’s your mistake.
Just do what you like and don’t worry about anything else.

Having said that: I am not a fan of how crafting professions work. Not in DF and not in TWW now.

Yeah, but as stated I read the guides after to see what I was missing. I wasn’t expecting it to be locked behind 1 tree. I don’t want to be a gem cutter. I want to be a vial crafter lol.

Have you invested in some of the skill books you can buy from consortium or whatever their name is?

If not; those can be a good catch up mechanic; they give 15 knowledge each.

We had some of this in DF and I was hoping they’d avoid this happening in TWW where you get stuck and can’t progress because there isn’t enough you can do to skill up.

Are the NPC work orders no help either?

Nope, they all seem to want gems cut.

I had this last time with tailoring in DF, wasn’t fun

I would give feedback in game though about it, as well as this topic, it’s in the same place as bug reports.
