So is Diminishing returns actually a thing in TBC or not?

Since TBC is filled with bugs, “bugs working as intended” and there isn’t much info about what is what I figured what place is better to ask than the forums. Considering every single player I meet in pvp gets affected by DRs it’d make sense that DR is a thing, but since I myself don’t get affected by DRs it must clearly be a bug. I know making a ticket won’t work cuz they won’t answer it anyways. They probably don’t have time nor people to answer them due to the alleged thing we don’t mention.

Oh and btw, when is hacking no longer allowed in tbc? I thought it would be removed/stay in classic but it’s still here. Can’t find any info from Blizzard saying they’ll get rid of it

Most likely you fail to make the right observation/conclusion but enjoy the vent.

Bash is a 4 second stun, Feral Charge is a 4 second root, War stomp is a 2 second stun. Oddly enough enemies already sit on a 50% DR when engaged in pvp combat with me. so the math becomes (no worries helping you out with that) a 2 sec Bash stun, a 2 sec root, a 1 sec war stomp stun.

But apparently Cheap Shot and Kidney Shot are on different diminishing returns since the 4 second Cheap Shot doesn’t affect the 6 second Kidney Shot (which should be 3 seconds after Cheap Shot). Or how Fear is always 8 seconds when cast on me but my fear goes from 8, 4, 2. Yes Mortal Coil is another type of CC so it’s not affected by Fear, but Howling Terror is. And that is just from 2 classes and their own CC. Then you add in every other class with CC that isn’t affected by, what would be, the same type of CC. You know, Cheap Shot and Kidney Shot should be affected by War Stomp, Hammer of Justice, Concussive Blow etc.

But thanks for your valid input and welcome to WoW. You obviously have a lot to learn so please read up before looking like a fool.

In TBC the diminishing returns does not share one class all together but are on separate CDs that (from what I remember) may (or not) cancel each out by another class of CC. So if your fear goes down with diminish try to skip a stun or something else in there and you should have get your fear on the max duration. Chaining same CC cases diminish returns, mixing the CC helps in some way to avoid it. I don’t PvP much but they changed the CC mechanics a lot so it might work that way.

DR types in tbc are :
Controlled Root
Random Root
Disarm
Disorient
Fear
Horror
Controlled Stun
Opener Stun
Random Stun
Scatter
“Others”

CS is opener stun and KS is controled stun so they are on diffrent DR categorys, category “Other” contain spells like Warrior CHarge or Hunter Entrapment talents that DR only with it selfs , Silence effects dont DR in TBC
