There is a guy who keeps spamming the EU-EN newcomer chat with the “[layeth with] YOUR MOM!!!” message (you know what the first word is, he replaces the U with a * so that the game doesn’t detect inappropriate communication).
The entire chat is filled with these.
It’s clearly a bot.
He’s clearly making new accounts because each time I report/mute him, and see him again a few days later, and I’m not the only one.
Blizzard.
Dear Blizzard.
This is in the newcomer chat.
This is the very first thing a lot of new players will see from your game’s community.
Do something.
Edit: He’s appearing in community content, Blizzard. This is your game that is being advertised. You ARE losing subscriber money on this.

Can’t you just automatically ban someone who spams like this? Why is it only a few seconds mute after 3 messages? Can’t the system detect when the exact same message is sent over and over?
With respect, how else am I supposed to bring attention to it? Am I to make a vague, non-specific statement for Blizzard to just guess what I’m talking about?
All you can do is keep reporting him, put in the comment bit that he is repeatedly doing it on new characters to circumvent ignores/bans and hope they finally IP ban him.
Just imagine what his/her life must be like that he has to continue making new accounts and/or characters just to go into world of warcraft newcomers chat and spam that over and over for months on end… at least the boost spammers are making irl money out of their illegal activity spam
Pretty much this.
Anything you do to prevent this would probably end up hindering other players communicating. If you put in filters then they’ll find a form of wording that circumvents those filters until you end up with everything filtered.
All you can hope for is that they turn 16 soon (growing out of such juvenile behaviour) or they get bored of this and start spraying graffitti on bus shelters instead.
Regarding the issue, how about adding a chat cooldown for newcomer players in that chat? Guides can still post more frequently than newcomers.
That way the bot can’t spam it that often AND it makes new players formulate their questions more detailed, since they can’t just post several one-liners, also cramming up the chat.
I know this may sound like a punishment for new players at first. But do you really want one-liner spam like:
NewPlayer [4:24:32 - PM]: “I need help with an issue in my UI”
NewPlayer [4:24:46 - PM]: “It is really important!”
NewPlayer [4:25:02 - PM]: “Nevermind, found a solution.”
That’s annoying too in my opinion. People do that a lot. But in a newcomer chat window of a game, people should be encouraged (and maybe a bit forced) to make full use of the 250 characters/letters they can post per message, instead of spamming several shorter ones.
