So many PUG players completely lack respect for others

I gotta say, I have a lot of respect and appreciation for people who actually form groups and try to RL pug groups cause maaaaan can people be scumbags.

If you join a group and the description literally reads “know what to do, bring consumables, be patient”. What makes you think its ok to force the RL to constantly have to tell you to eat food pop flasks/runes etc.

Why do these people think its ok to pay absolutely no attention at all dying to every mechanic while watching youtube on their 2nd monitor. And yeah I get it, mistakes happen but its very easy to see who makes a genuine mistake and someone who just doesnt care enough to try at all.

Why do they think its ok to completely lose their mind in chat and leave after a single pull forcing the group to spend another 5-10 minutes looking for replacements and waiting despite the description having clearly stated “be patient”.

Just the other day I was trying to do HC Rasz and this one hunter in the group kept constantly telling the RL to no invite any other hunters to the group because he wanted the best chance at the rare bow from the boss. Either you leave and look for another group or make your own, you dont bug the RL about it every 2 minutes.

These people get a very short list of things expected of them and they purposfully ignore every single one of those things. It is extremely disrespectful of everyone else in the group who actually do try and more importantly it is even more disrespectful towards the RL who went through the effort to learn the thing well enough to instruct others and going through the hassle to make the group and lead it.

I have played a lot of mmo’s and always been a pug player and while this sort of mentality exists in every game wow has by far and aways the most widespread problem with it. I hate to use the comparison but wow is a very “american” mmo in the sense that a large amount of players seem to have a “f you, I got mine” mentality.

PUGs are Pot-Luck you take what you’re given. If you want specific type of groups you’re best to join a community or guild. Whether that be a friendly chill run or a minmaxed optimised route rantfest there is a community out there for you.
In LFG PUGs you get randoms and that can be anything. Just go with the flow and stop the stress, you’ll be heathier in the long-run.

So I am not really complaining about it being an inevitable fact of pugging my question is more like “how are these people like this?”. Do they go through their entire lives with the same total disregard for how their actions might inconvenience others? I constantly overprepare whenever I wanna participate in group content because I am super worried I will negatively impact someone else so its just wild to me that these people seem to have 0 regards in the slightest.

There are two main playstyles being forced together in wow. Chill take it easy types and minmaxed optimised to the Nth degree GOGOGO types.

If only there were some way to filter these two groups into their own fellows. Communities and Guilds is one way and making specific groups is another. You did try that it seems but it’s not the most reliable method. Ideally people would read the group decription and decide not to join such an unsuitable group but they don’t.

Because these people know that chill groups with no requirements will more than likely not clear the content but they want the rewards. So they decide to try and get carried for free by people who actually wanna try, none of the effort all of the rewards but in the end they just waste their own and everyone elses time because they refuse to work for the rewards they want.

Some people don’t realize there’s another human behind those pixels. Common problem over the Internet.

Or more like they don’t want to, as it makes it easier to just abandon groups for example.

This is why Guilds exist since Vanilla.
So that this types of behaviour gets filtered out. Humans are selfish by nature.
People playing in pugs know they can act with impunity because, what’s the worst thing that’s going to to happen to them for being rude, disrespectful, entitled etc. ? Nothing.

Even in a controlled environment as a Guild run, people might find things they dislike about certain players and than those players need to be addressed and perhaps removed from the Guild.

The sad part about pugs is: you can get good players that don’t have time to play in Guilds and players that wouldn’t be accepted in Guilds because of their behaviour

Cheers.

Sad part is that it cant really be moderated either. In another game like csgo or league its super easy to penalize a player who leaves a game or rages like crazy. In wow you kinda cant penalize someone because they technically arent breaking any rules, they are just being socially inept jerks.

People take this game way to serious, its way more fun if you just take the randomess of pugs for what it is and enjoy the game, don’t like it get some friends together and play more with friends.

I honestly do not care if you fail at mechanics game is still fresh some people just started recently, they aren’t gonna know mechanics yet.

I dont mind people who wanna just chill but dont join groups that arent meant for that if thats what you wanna do. Can always make/find chill groups for that, no reason to ruin it for people who just wanna clear because you dont wanna try.

Only 3 realms where i find players to be rude is Silvermoon , kazzak , and Ragnaros

no idea why these people on these realms just think it’s okay to be jerks but I really have no complaints about others on other realms.

Most people you describe are asocial with many mental issues. Internet exposes us to these individuals that are otherwise invisible and ignored by the society.

I had a run when a healer was weird. He exhibited signs of a mentally unstable person.

I just put him on ignore mid run and suggest ignoring those like the rest of the society does.
