What you guys think? Good move, Bad move?
Personally, queue times are rapid now, but certainly noticing the lack of social engagement. Have we now put on the blinkers of ‘get this dungeon spammed then gtfo’…?

Que does not work for me, it says estimated time 10minutes and I’m the only one in the que always. This is for rdf gamma idk if regular hc or lower levels work.
I love it i login que for it while minding my own business go in get the job done and im out where i wanna be
Before lfd it was Hi and bye, nothing else. I see no difference in the “social engagement”
According to frequent users of this forum, the current implementation of RDF has:
They screwed up the raid portion of the interface. Other than that i don’t care. It is not like this version will last for 10+ years anyway. it will be over in a few months so /CBA to even bother to feel bad anymore. Soon the hell of LFD will be over for me, once again.
EDIT: It is actually more social engagements now. A lot more griefer and pure monkeys playing in LFD so ppl get a lot more mad now, and they show it.
Oh thats good to hear that the game has been saved by RDF, I was getting worried there, but I can relax now.
But really, I tried it out and it went about as well as I expected. HoS Gamma, wiped on trash, 1 person went afk and we couldn’t kick them for some reason, the lowest dps saying “gogogogogo pull more” and it felt dead and soulless. I then went on my Firemaw horde alt which is level 30-ish. Queued up for random even tho SM was the only thing available. Queue time was alright, got into Lib. Wiped several times cause the bear tank would pull more than the disc priest could heal, one dps seemed to just be on autorun and did about 2k damage througout the dungeon, got the usual “go fast” comments from 2 people this time, skipped the houndmaster I wanted gloves from because… well it was faster not to do it I guess… and the tank left before the last boss.
So yeah, as I said, went as was expected. Sure my sample size of 2 isn’t very extensive, but its enough. Don’t think I’m ever going to use it at 80, I’ll just run with my guild. Might occasionally use it on alts for dungeons with good quests.
Likely because WLK dungeons are fundamentally flawed. There is no need to communicate, so people don’t. In TBCC and vanilla it was quite common that people wrote in chat, if only to set up tactics. Patrols were also very deadly in TBC, and if a pull went wrong people had a chance to shine by utilizing their class kit to try and save the day.
Nothing like that in WLK dungeons. I was positive when Blizzard implemented the alpha rune, and for a very brief while WLK dungeons were a bit of fun. But it was evident that more was needed. You couldn’t just slap on a mythic-esque affix and hope that the dungeons were fixed. Enemies needed more dangerous abilities that could genuinely pose a threat to the group if left ignored. There is like one pack in Utgarde Pinnacle that has abilities that can threaten a wipe, and it is those mobs before the final boss. One mob does a fear, one does a heal and one does an AoE Shadow nova that, on alpha/beta (and likely gamma as well) does significant damage to the group and should be interrupted.
I am disappointed with the gamma rune though. Is there really no innovation at all? Just more HP and damage? The HP was noticable. The damage? Not so much. The dungeons I ran yesterday were far too easy.
Oh, and harder dungeons are not compatible with the chaotic randomness of the RDF. Cataclysm proved this back in 2009-2010.
I’ve no issue with it being in the game, as it was in the original - so fair enough.
But it’s always been a double edge sword, as are all mechanics designed to “make things more convenient.” Convenience kills adventure.
The “GOGOGOGO pull moaR fAst rUN plZZ sK1P aLL” brigade who don’t even give you time to loot mobs, and will just happily keep charging forward, ignoring you should you find yourself OOM, ice blocked, or otherwise incapacitated will have their way. If I’m going to use the tool it’s just something I have to accept - that soulless, dead, braindead loot corridor experience comes with the territory and is the price to be payed for ‘convenience.’
I’ve healed 6 dungeons in a row with virtually no wait. All successful. It’s made life a lot easier to get groups. The only problem is the 2 bugs that I can see, that I don’t remember in the original wotlk, where dungeon levels are messed up - I’m 47 but can’t queue for ZF even with level 47 quests, and also where I am repeatedly spammed ‘you are not in a party’ in the group and can’t use group chat. At least people who don’t like it don’t have to use it so nothing is being forced on anyone.
I really like it. Cause of my Roll (Tank) I have 0 Waittime für Gamma. Best thing. If i see only person around 4,1k GS i can leave instant. There are to much people who are running in this Gamma Dungeons and thinks its now free carries. But i do better just to leave as tank and Que again after 15 Mins. Perfect solution for me.
yea, no they killed the lfg tool. It is being forced on everyone.
wwell yes,
lfd made wolk classic much more enjoyable experience.
its finaly worth to play it at least for me
I try to tell myself “each to their own” but I really don’t see what is fun about WLK dungeons. I can get the appeal of loot, but when debating the RDF many people will use the argument that “dungeons don’t matter, they aren’t supposed to be difficult because we have raids for that”. But if one plays raids there’s little reason to run dungeons, aside from the first couple of weeks following a new phase.
Regardless of which dungeon you enter the gameplay loop is much the same. Pull as many mobs as the tank can handle and start blasting. If that’s your idea of fun, then good for you, but I cannot relate on any level. I suppose if one rolls alts in order to experience that loot itch over and over…? What drudgery it must be.
I saw people asking for groups over general. I also saw guild groups. I’m not sure quite what they’re being ‘forced’ to do with the LFD. Just don’t use it. Anyway that’s irrelevant now. Just hopefully they’ll sort out the bugs. No reason why they wouldn’t.
There’s no bugs, that’s the intended way for current version of RDF to work.
There are bugs. Firstly the level caps are wrong and different to the original by 2 levels. Secondly you get spammed with ‘you are not in a party’ because all groups are treated like raids. Thirdly you can do the satchel repeatedly instead of just once per day. Did you never play wotlk first time round, or ever on a private server? Anyway it’s great to have the RDF again regardless so not much point getting so defensive over it.
Cool by me…
Yup this about sums in up.
Groups continually wiping on trash, a tank who is clueless and can’t hold aggro, a healer who can’t keep anyone alive and people just generally being completely awful… It still amazes me how bad people can be at a game this old.
I will not be using RDF again, I’ll either go with a guild group or just not worry about getting the gear. It is absolutely not worth the headache.
(also as an idea, make people answer questions on their class and the dungeon before letting them queue)
‘(also as an idea, make people answer questions on their class and the dungeon before letting them queue)’
No need. As you said you will not be using RDF again. You do you. Don’t worry how other people play.
