So sub is losing nightblade and outlaw is losing ranged stun

If this is unpruning then why does it feel like I’m being pruned? It seems like “unpruning” is about removing spec diversity.

the irony that outlaw lost one of the only things which gave it arena potential by being able to punish through guarenteed block/parry chance with a ranged stun, And not needing to re-position to stun greedy healers.

Also nightblade is being replaced by rupture probs which in the grand scheme of things is probably going to be a buff.

Rupture is better than Nightblade overall. The only thing Nightblade was better at was going through BoP which didn’t matter since you don’t kill a BoP’ed target by applying a DoT. Rupture though lasts longer so more CPs will go into Eviscerate which means more damage, pierces magical immunities such as Cloak and AMS, and will prevent other Rogues from restealthing safely when being killed by you as it cannot be cleansed by Cloak.

Outlaw ranged stun shouldn’t have been introduced to begin with, it’s quite a healthy change to give Kidney back.

Then nightblade should have been BUFFED, not REMOVED from the game. How the hell did “unpruning” turn into removing core abilities?

The reason why Rupture is better is because it lasts longer and is a bleed. So to buff Nightblade to that ppoint you’d need to make it a bleed and increase its duration… so you just end up with Rupture.

Also Nightblade is only core to Sub if you started to play after Legion started. Rupture was Sub core DoT before Nightblade and has been for 5 expansion before it was PRUNED and replaced with that Nightblade that made Sub LOSE some stuff, which is… you got it, pruning ! Putting it back is indeed unprunning as they give a spec (Sub) a spell that it lost (Rupture). Giving Nightblade to remove rupture in Legion was pruning especially since Rupture has effects tied to it that Nightblade tried to mimick with a weaker version.

Nightblade is not a core ability. It’s a badly designed, badly implemented attempt some designers made when given the brief “Make Sub more Shadowy”…

A weak magic dot, which buff’s our damage, which is also a MS effect and was also once our only slow. All that utility baked into one ability which could be dispelled with one key-press.

It was a shockingly poor bit of game design and implementation which should never have gotten past the suggestions phase before someone said "yes but magic dots are dispellable right?!..

It deserves to die.

It looks like sub is keeping Shuriken Storm based on newest video, which is good news.

Whilst I agree, Between the eyes for m+ was pretty key and well, a ton of fun. Being able to just CC the entire pack by myself is brilliant although yes, possibly broken.

Obviously a ranged stun that does a ton of damage and whose CD can be reduced is a problem in PvP

Nightblade finally going is nice

It’s not a problem in pvp, outlaw needs it to make up for lack of single target dmg.

Outlaw was good in season 1 it did reliable damage and made up for its lack of mortal wounds which 99% of melee have for ranged CC/reliable set upts and a spammable stun which reset with finishers

But ofcourse since the rogue isnt hugging the pillar the player base soared with rage and demanded deadlyshot did less damage than mutilate even when the procs aligned, so its a meme spec at best. Second fiddle to their team mate as per :broken_heart:

glhf hitting for anything more than 30k with dispatch/between the eyes with ruthless precision

The ranged stun is the only thing that makes outlaw competitive in pvp and it already has a 30 second cooldown, yet it’s being PRUNED. Leave it to Blizzard to use “unpruning” as an excuse to remove abilities. Meanwhile DH has ranged stun and it will never be taken away.

And the new effect makes it so we have to go back to focusing on one enemy.

Did I mention outlaw is losing Acrobatic Strikes as well? We’re also losing riposte and it’s not on the talent tree like they said it would be.

Between the eyes is not a 30 second cooldown in reality though. It’s lower than that because of Restless Blades.
It’s a step in the right direction returning Kidney Shot. Then they might actually make the spec deal meaningful damage in PvP again to compensate.
Also; can you really call it pruning when they just redesign it and actually ADD an ability back (kidney shot)? It’s a longer CD than the current BtE, though.

We’re getting Evasion back though, which is better than Riposte anyway. Riposte only worked vs melee hits, evasion works against hunters’ ranged attacks as well.

Not if it’s reduced by Restless Blades !

We need to spam all social media that rogue is garbage and we do not like the SL changes.

I wonder if they counted every poison they made available for Sub and Outlaw as a unique ability. 4 new abilities for Outlaw and Sub each, omg job well done bois, let’s present to our Directors!

Seems like it, because all we actually got is SnD, another maintenance buff to maintain lmao. Rest is just renamed.

They give passive nerfed poisons and a nerfed SND that we have to maintain and then take away core abilities, we should be grateful.

True, I wonder if that will be the case.

What gets me is that ranged stun and Acrobatic Strikes is the main thing that makes outlaw fun. Also they’re putting a 30 second cooldown on Roll the Bones which removes more skill cap, so I guess we get to look forward to spamming sinister strike while standing on top of targets and renewing SND?

Tbh i’m happy with the nightblade change.
One simple dispell and Its gone.
15% damage increase.
15% Less healing.
The bonus was good but it was easly dispell able and once Its gone you had to reaply it again which means no evisc

Unless we get a sizable amount of spells back on par with what DK is getting I say we riot  I am simply not plaiyng rogue going into SL if these are the only changes we’re getting, given the rest of the talent “changes” are pure garbage and not even thought through.
