I have waited for TBC to come back since they announced WoW Classic during legion, hoping they would do TBC after. Now that it’s not even released for a whole freaking year people are starting to write it off as dead. A big part of it is because the phases are released too fast and the hardcore raiding community that is just zerging everything so they’re bored.
Now Blizz has announced Wrath will release in 2022 I fear they have shoved TBC aside in favor of a fast WoTLK release. Some people here are asking for a summer release, I mean really?! That will mean TBC will have a lifespan of barely over 1 year!
I repeat: 1 year!
This while Classic wow had almost 2, with less content overall.
Sorry but I cannot accept this. I’m also hyped for wrath but TBC is the one expansion I wanted to re-experience and savor, and I know I’m not alone in this. And no TBC- ERA realms are planned atm, which reinforces the feeling that TBC is already over.
At least give us until December for Wrath to release so that we have 7 months left for us to be in Outland…
i dont’t think blizzard sees anything more than $$$ these days, so a october launch of wotlk is very likely. Shame they don’t give ppl that like tbc a tbc era only and all on tbc will be migrated to wotlk.
It’s because all the zergers clear a raid 5 times, buy bis gear in GDKP’s and are then bored of the current raid tier. They come here and on twatter to yell that it’s not going fast enough.
It looks like we’re a vocal minority in this. Yest I talked about this in my guild, 20+ online, and nobody else was bothered by this.
Until Wrath releases, which also is gonna get zerged and rushed and will be ‘done’ in about 16 months. See how people react then. Cata waiting room? Yeah right.
For me atleast, there was more to wotlk than just raidlogging (which i feel tbc is)
My all-time favourite specc was fun in pvp (elemental), so i could spend so much more time doing pvp and less on pve. I had fun achievements to work on, dual specc and rdf also made it easier and chill to do dungeons occasionally (sure, im lazy and cba finding people on trade and travelling to the dungeon. The random part is also abit fun)
Tbc just isnt bringing any of the stuff for me. So much QoL changes in wotlk, playing tbc now that i know wotlk is just better doesnt really do it for me.
Few QoL:
totem changes, lava burst, minor reworks on the talents in tree, hex<3, riptide, weapon enchants (earthliving/flametongue)
I sort of hate tanking for pugs, but RDF made it acceptable, since it was convenient (the rdf did all the work, find people and get you to the location, + the nice bonus). But i prob wont tank outside guildruns without rdf, if im honest.
I havent tanked for pug-dungeons in tbc since p1, and that was while leveling and early prebis farming.
This can also be said for TBC, especially with arena. I’m not much of a PvP player so I admit this is a gameplay element I don’t know too much about.
I agree with that.
On the bigger servers finding a dungeon is a breeze. Yes you have to get the bulletin board addon but it’s super easy to use and you still have to talk to people to get invited. On my server the ‘gearcheck’ for dungeons isn’t that much of a thing so it’s pretty easy getting grps, even on lower levels. I do get that not all servers are like this.
True about the QoL changes, and that’s a matter of opinion since a lot of people still swear Vanilla is the best game, warts and all.
To me what makes an expansion good isn’t just the class design and what (automated) features are included. To me the feel of an expansion is more important, and boy TBC/Outland has an awesome feel. I literally love every zone, the music is stellar, the quests are (mostly) memorable, the raids are iconic.
And yes: nostalgia. I started out in TBC and I was a noob but I did enough to experience some end- game content. Now I wanted to do it all, and we only get little over a year to experience this amazing game. Ofc I’m mad.
It was really weird to hear them announce that, but I think they believe that too few people would play tbc. As far as I know, classic vanilla isn’t popular at all, and tbc would be less popular because it doesn’t attract the purists as much, and wotlk improved on many things. Without the rose-tinted goggles, tbc isn’t that great. I wouldn’t play tbc era servers, ever, but it obviously sucks for everyone who wanted to.
They’re trying to make wotlk classic dead on arrival though by making it more like tbc in the worst ways possible, so I’m not sure they’re really invested in classic as a whole anymore. It probably isn’t as profitable as they hoped it would be.
Yeah, i mean the difference from vanilla to tbc is huge. PvP-wise. But my fav specc doesnt ddo well in arena, besides there arent that many top tier comps, i feel that change in wotlk (more speccs are viable in arena)
Yeah, its not a matter of getting groups ( i play horde on gehennas), but its more of the fact that i just dont enjoy pugs. They do questionable stuff, pull without me (then ofc blame me for the pull:P). I dont know, its just not as chill as with guildies.
RDF also removes the gearcheck/class-check. Imagine how many rogues who got declined for ddungeons in tbc for example, or non-meta speccs.
Yeah, all i said was basically my own oppinion ofc. I dont really have facts, but it seems like the removal of RDF is very very controversial.
Yeah, i can understand the scenery and music ( i enjoyed howling fjordd music). But thats it for me, i never really go back to the zone after im done questing (except if i need to farm certain profs).
Yeah, i can understand. Allthough i understand, i still want wotlk to be released today:P
Guess we are just different:)
In an ideal world, they would bring out wotlk while having tbc still around but i hardly doubt that it is a good business plan.
This, i think it hurts their ego abit knowing that an 16 year old game competes with their new and modern game.
And instead of admitting they are wrong, they just give out excuses.
It isn’t controversial. It’s almost unanimously seen as a bad choice to remove it. There are like two people arguing in favor of it, and they spam every thread on it, and are very active. It just looks controversial until you check who wrote the posts, and see that it’s two people who don’t even play tbc. The actual informed discussion on it is very clear on the matter.
I’m not sure I’d call it competing. Retail has been taking a nosedive because of their ego, but that doesn’t mean that classic is insanely popular. Both games aren’t as competitive as they want them to be.
They’re trying to fix retail now, and made some very good announcements for it. It might improve, but so far Ion always found a way to make it bad. The things they are doing to wotlk classic are completely detached from reality (they think 5 man content has a social component in classic wow…), and I’m not sure how they can be that out of touch. They unrionically think that the disenchant option in the loot window is bad for the game. You can’t make this kind of thing up.
Blizzard makes me think that I switched timelines from a dark one to an equally dark but infinitely more bizarre one.
