I appreciate that it’s not any bigger as I go around on my ground mount
no need for wifey to have to record it all : P there are soundtrack lists on youtube. Just youtube ‘‘WoW undermine soundtrack’’
Hey thanks.
Kind of a weird question, but does the car give you motion sickness like skyriding does?
It’s all the same issue yeah. I’m really pleased that they thought of accessibility from the start instead of making it an afterthought. I can use my ground mount and use the caddy caller to take part in shipping and handling.
Works well.
Back in MoP there used to be a quest where you race along the top of one of the walls, avoiding barrels and taking speed ups. That made me feel sick too.
I can’t believe I waited this long for a release so dull like watching paint dry.
But what did I expect? It’s Blizzard, the masters of building hype castles on foundations of sand. Classic Blizzard move. Promise the world, deliver a screensaver. What an absolute disappointment…
What do you have in mind though Junglevoodo? Where does your expectations lie? Got any comparisons for example?
I still haven’t tried the patch yet… I suck.
I am having a blast. This is the first time I had real fun since Legion.
They really should add a good racetrack for the car somewhere else, less crowded, I remember being excited in vanilla, thinking I will be able to race that track in the shimmering flats.
Indeed, what exactly were you expecting?
Shimmering flats would have been perfect!
I really like Undermine. I like the vibe and the looks. I’m not so much into jazz, but it doesn’t bother me that much. I love the new delves, they look and feel awesome!
So for me, this patch is 5/5.
Design wise, I don’t think there’s a zone as of recent expansions that has looked as good as Undermine, I think it’s probably the best since Mechagon ironically. However there just seems to be so many things that could have been implemented into the zone, and it feels like the zone has been promoted to be something it isn’t. It’s just the same recycled content with a different colour of paint and a clunky feature with D.R.I.V.E
I think adding something like D.R.I.V.E is a step forward definitely, but it needs some tweaks. I think adding additional content to open world zones is always a benefit. But that feature does not disassociate the fact it’s the same content as launch, will be the same content in 11.2 and so on.
Goblins & Gnomes have the wackiest theme, there’s so much potential to mess around with, and create this hugely engaging zone that can feel alive, instead this clustered zone feels lifeless. Here is some thoughts that I think could’ve really been added to add some really fun content to the zone.
Casino Style Games
First thing that people will say, is it promotes gambling, which can in turn promote people buying gold/tokens. There is nothing to say that a currency specific to undermine could be implemented. This currency could be used for mounts, transmogs etc the typical things that are tied to the game now. These games could be simple things such as black jack, poker and slot machines. The next thing that you can gamble could be on other players, which brings me to my next point.
Demolition Dome
This area is literally designed for some robot wars style battle, its essentially a colosseum. Why has that not been utilised? Imagine tuning your goblin car (whatever it’s called that has D.R.I.V.E) and battling against other players, with it being in an open world players can bet said currency on players. This could even have some form of implementation of a guild like Brawler’s Guild. Guilds could be placed in the arena, and fight randomised fun affixes in this colosseum, earning gold or again, currency. (Also I’m sure there is a better offer than gold as I know that would end up impacting the economy). Spectators could bet on the kill time, or even if they will succeed.
This could’ve even become a part of a prestige, players could battle to become the champion of Undermine, earning buffs or even a weekly title.
Expanding on D.R.I.V.E
This one is up in the air, but so far I can see there’s a handful of customisation regarding speed, handling etc. I know that there’s likely more paint jobs and horn sounds, which is great but there could’ve been so much more. Delving further into this robot wars idea, there could be weapons attached to the carts in the Demolition Dome, giving different encounters for the PvP car battles.
Why is there no public event races? This can quite clearly be phased, as a lot of content is. I feel the technology is there, but it isn’t getting used.
Expanding on the Cartels
They are the same as The Severed Threads, just tied to different world quests. No exclusive content to each cartel. Goblins are competitively business driven, any allegiances they may have could be scrapped for profit. They honestly could even introduce a weekly scenario for players, like a heist or black market dealings. Even implementing some form of war between the cartels for fun. These are more or less the same thing we’ve had in similar patches, but its better than what we have been given.
Minigames & Other Stuff
Players could host street parties, dance competitions, comedy shows etc. General open social content like that is perfect for making the zone feel lived in. You could even go in depth with car customisation and have a pimp my ride style competition. Undermine is literally the home of goblins, it should be a commercial hub. What’s stopping the idea of players having an area in the zone that can be used to set up shop? Setting up booths for other players to barter.
Anyways, I feel that Blizzard really missed the mark on the potential that this zone could’ve had, and really could’ve set the standard for future zones in future patches. I’m sure people will disagree and defend how Undermine is, and that’s absolutely fine. I don’t think Undermine is a bad zone, just an underwhelming zone compared to what imagination can do to Undermine.
A little off/on topic though after writing this, it feels as if WoW is stuck in a rut of not adapting to modern gaming culture, especially when it comes to social content. Streamers and content creators ultimately promote the game the most. I think that there should be events that cater towards the cadence of creators. Not all events, but at least some. These types of ideas could extend the lifespan of this content.
Blizzard created a masterpiece.
No.
Because Nazjatar was a new zone alongside Mechagon. Not one of the old zones.
I am not happy about it either… I think blizzard back in the day offered us allot more content to do… But this is the price we pay for wanting content faster…
We get less in some weird sense… Smaller content. dished out faster.
I miss the old days too…
I’m not a fan tbh. I hope the pvp season will be decent otherwise I won’t be playing this patch.
What makes a pvp season good though Onetapez?<.<
Ehm, no. This is the price we pay for the existance of classic. Now this might be a conspiracy theory but, ever since classic launched, Blizzard increased the price of expansions, the expansions we got have had 2 content updades instead of the regular 3 (this ofc being marketed as a feature for the World Soul Saga) and we have been seeing more and more the re-usal of open world areas repackaged as dungeons and raids. Again I have no proof that classic is the reason, but only requiring a sub for them (and Blizzard have said that the sub money more or less just covers the server costs) and the fact that these things started happening just right after classic started is very sus.
Decent balance, although no matter what, many will complain that it’s never been worse, and ofc decent participation. Nothing more.
