So what about looms?

In before all the “I want my gold back” posts.

Seriously though - not that I’ve ever been a fan of actual items (I always thought it should have been a tabard or patches), what’s the plan for looms? We’ve spent many tens of thousands of gold over the years on them and it looks like they’ll be next to useless?

I don’t want my gold back, why put a bandage when the scar is already fully healed ?
It’s a weird metaphore but, spending money before makes sense because leveling was bad then.

But who cares about Looms if the xp is already that fast.

i must confess i need other slots which are now not introduced to be finally added to the game to enjoy my leveling.
its just annoying to remog every time you get upgrade while leveling

Have they said they are being removed?

I did not see that on deep dive or qa at least, or missed it.

Even if there are less levels, they still make it faster.

I didn’t suggest they are being removed - it was more of a “what use are they” when they’ve reduced levelling speed by 60-70% and over time they’ve been upgraded by for each expansion. Now there won’t be a need for “each expansion”.

I assume level in heirloms will be squished down with player levels. SO if you upgraded them to BFA they work untill level 50 and so on.

What use are they? Same than this far. Speed up leveling process. Have armour that levels with you. Have armour that allows you to keep same mog when leveling.

I agree, if leveling is actually going to be faster, and better I’d prefer looms to not work for exp anymore

i dont mind if they remove the exp boosts on looms, but dont remove them from the game.
i use them like a uniform, i transmog them as soon as i get to org or meet a passing mount with one attatched, and i pick an outfit that feels like the character to me.

my forsaken priest wears the black velvet robe, while my draenai preist has one thats purple/white/blue and matches her hairband.
once my blood elf paladin gets a decent set of azerite gear, i’ll probably mog it to something blue or silver/gold

it also means, if you are like me, you dont feel bad selling/disenchanting your gear for those slots when you get it. for the first time in ages, i actualy can feel free to sell all the gear thats not an upgrade. (tho i usualy keep a nice robe saved on non cloth chars for special ocasions lol)

they are called heirlooms after all…that measn they are old stuff handed down. they dont need to still give boosts, but can stay as something old thats still usefull in their own way.

rather then removing i want a full set so i don’t look like a low level noob leveling up :stuck_out_tongue: and 100 % xp

If they are going to stay… they will be squished. When BFA came out, you couldn’t use them past lvl 110 for almost a year.

However, if they are going to remove them, those who invested in them should be compensated somehow.

The heirlooms really only exist as a band aid to a broken leveling system that was NEVER supposed to have 120 levels to go through. With the source wound fixed and leveling from 1 to 50 being streamlined+faster, their existence won’t have much value.

Other than having horrible stats and saving you from having to transmog often.

If future expansions will happen as I expect it will, looms will no longer need to be upgraded, which is a qol in itself.

1-10 starter experince
10-50 level in your legacy expansion of choice
50-60 shadowlands.

Post shadowlands, I expect it to be folded into the legacy group, and we get dropped to 50 for the new expack. No more needing to raise level cap and slowly creating a similar problem with too many levels.

and thats why i want them to stay. even without the exp boosting.
consider them a bit like the old secret achevements of getting wepons skills to 400, or a character having done the first aid triage quest.

it gives people who collected them something to remember the old days (lol) and lets you have a set of gear that you at least, dont look like you got dressed in the dark, out of a hamper full of random gear.

my only problem is pants…i cant get the pants at all.
keep them as curios from the darkmoon and legacy. we can still get legacy pvp gear right? so whats the difference? shouldnt that also go away now since it too, will be level squished and become useless?

Won’t heirlooms be 1-50?
Also what’s the point if leveling is already gonna be fast? Well, it’ll be even faster if you have heirlooms, I guess.
Or is the extra % XP removed?

I hope they will consolidate heirloom upgrades so in Shadowlands base heirlooms scale from 1 to 50 without buying 4 different upgrades. That would be just clunky and feel weird to buy 1-10 looms and upgrade them for subsequent 10 levels up to 50. Then they can eventualy add upgrades to scale them up to 60 in a future patch.
