So who's happy the mage tower is back?

More time to get flying book mount is good.

Considering we’ll be having a content drought until next expansion…

This time a recolor transmog from Tomb of Sargeras Mythic for each class, and a flying book mount if you complete all 7 towers.

roflmao not me. not gonna bother with anything untill last patch of shadowlands to leech of every system and roflstomp it

I did 1 Challenge in the first week of MT last time. Decided it felt like far too much effort to bother doing another one.

Atleast now it’s permanent, if I ever get the desire to try another one I can do in my own time.

But honestly, I didn’t enjoy the experience of the one Challenge that I completed simply because it was too over tuned.

Atleast I will be able to make gold from selling Drums.

I’m happy, I’ll have something to do during S4.

As for tuning? Nah. All of it is completeable, leave it as-is, as a challenge.

I just kinda wish they templated the characters in it. The challenge should be solely about improving at your class and the encounters, not farming legacy gear with sockets to get more stats.

only holy priest was hard. they got a buff in 9.2 maybe its easier now if it works with scaling

Good it’s back permanent, me personally cba to care to get these ugly sets and a book mount!

No, it’s not easier, because the allies are the problem. Not the spec itself. The allies are made out of paper compared to Legion.

Shadowlands systems do not work in mage tower.

Got my bear, couldn’t care less about the rest. Will probably have a look if it’s tuned around end of legion and not this souls game level of difficulty.

How do you think we used to clear legacy content back in the day…? I see nothing wrong with this. Its timewalk for a reason.

What kind of legacy content back in the day u talk about ?

Yea for how many timewalking stuff u need old gear ?

not as excited as i was in legion since shadow had a different iteration of surrender to madness that was required to play perfectly or you would die to your own talent but i’m still looking forward to it

You don’t need old gear for the mage tower. There’ve been plenty of people who did it with nothing but SL gear and SL consumables, every challenge. Old gear merely makes it easier (sometimes a lot easier), but it’s not required.

I hope so, not planing to farm old stuff , but there are few chars where i wanna do it for tmogs , maybe even book mount since i skiped big part of last year and missed MT.

Honestly, I just don’t understand why they won’t add the old artifact skins back in. They were purely a time and place thing so the whole “it takes away from people who did it back then” doesn’t really fly imo. You still need to complete a challenge to earn them, but I feel like all this does is deny people the chance to try.

So.

Am I right in thinking the best way to do these is to farm mythic atorus for a few weeks then dig out my old Legion Legendaries?

(And also not be rubbish)

Nope, There’s a few ways but for me the best time investment is to run Siege of Org on mythic and collect socket gear. This was the last raid iirc that dropped gear that had a set nr of sockets, in contrast to the RNG farce we have today. Gems scale really well in the Mage Tower so you can have up to 20 sockets filled with 3 str/agi/int, which is huge.

Since these pieces are low lvl you can enchant them with pretty nice enchants. Also BFA flasks and pots are a huge damage boost. Unbridled Fury does 15+% of you damage.

There’s also a few Legion trinkets that can do 20% of your dps on certain fights.

Is this cheating? Meh kinda a grey area since it’s available in the game to use, and the encounters are defo a tad too hard with just SL gear.

EDIT: the best weapons are the Garrosh SoO heirlooms from back in MoP (they don’t drop anymore). They can be enchanted with Crusader for crazy self heal and filled with gems.

Not really a Grey area, progress is made by skill, gear and experience.
Relying on one more than another is not cheating.

Someone might be more skilled while you can be more perseverant and invest on gear.
