Soaring spelltome club

Hi,

This thread for those who have spelltome mount.
I am interested with what specs/classes and gear you guys did Mage Tower to get this mount.
Mine were completed in this order:

Frost mage - SL pvp gear, easy, almost trivial
Guardian druid - SL pvp gear + cyclotronic trinket, hard
Resto druid - SL pvp gear + cyclotronic trinket, easy
Enhancement shaman - SL pvp gear + cyclotronic trinket, easy
Elemental shaman - SL pvp gear, the easiest/trivial, did in lowest attempt count
Destro warlock - S1 SL pvp gear and pvp trinkets, pretty hard, long fight
Arms warrior - blue/epic SL pvp gear with crusader enchant . P2 was trivial once I learned you can tank boss in the middle till 1st pack of adds. Else was losing dps race

Almost there, I’m 6/7 atm.

Holy pala (main char) was my first - SoO socket gear / did it day 2 so pre nerf and was hard

Fury war lvl 52 - SoO socket gear / pretty easy once I figured out to use Bladestorm on certain packs

Arms war lvl 52 - the same gear as fury / pretty hard at first but a fun challenge

Ret pala - SoO socket gear + the seed trinket from emerald nightmare / took me way too many tries 70+ so did not find it that easy. Too much going on + dps race

Guardian Druid - SoO socket gear / the hardest and overtuned even after nerfs

BM Hunter lvl 52 - you guessed it, SoO socket gear + seed trinket for the adds / very doable and not a dps race, the fight just took too long so gets tedious after a sub 10% wipe.

Still on my list: Frost mage with SoO socket gear.

Yup, INB4 the replies: socket gear makes it slightly easier and that shouldn’t be a thing. They should have tuned them a bit better and give us template stats.
That said SoO is super easy and one run gives you a full set.

nice, you will make it.
Can give you small tip maybe it helps with frost mage challenge.
On p2 when Karam is regenerating his health, just pop everything including timewarp and pots if you have them, and nuke Raest as much as possible. I noticed that during this period you will have more free cast time, because only hands and minor trash mobs are spawning.

You win once Raest is killed.

Congratulations boys.

I have accepted now that I no longer want the Book Mount. I completed my first Challenge in the first week (Fire Mage), and just can’t be bother with the Mage Tower anymore.

This time last year I probably would have stuck with it, but right now it’s just not the sort of challenge that I find fun anymore.

Good luck to anyone else who’s going for it. You can do it!

Nice to see evidence that yes, wonky gear is needed to make an impossible challenge ‘hard’.

Completed all with shadowlands gear (except for bear for which I bought shoulders and neck) but previous xpac consumables.
Easy = < 90mn
Medium = < 180mn
Hard = > 180mn

BM hunter - Medium
Fire mage - Easy
Enhancement - Easy
Holy paladin - Easy
Shadow priest - Easy (used the outrange strat)
Guardian druid - Hard
Arms Warrior - Medium

It’s not impossible, it’s just a bit overtuned. See poster above me.
And if I can spend 1 hour to make it a bit more manageable I will do so. It’s a solo challenge and the rewards are cosmetic so who cares.

Yes they should have used templates /repeat x100

Shadow Priest
Disc priest
Holy Paladin
Prot Paladin
All 3 rogue speccs since it’s my main.
Like the challenge!

EDIT: Done, 7/7

Keep in mind, I also did all of these in Legion, multiple times (8/12 classes)

Kruul - Vengeance DH (Less than 15 pulls, the only thing that was wiping me, was the dps check, didn’t have the Chronomatic Anomaly / Sunking trinket for cheat death, otherwise would 1 shot I suppose, kept dying on 4th annihilate). Did with normal SL gear, SL flask, SL rune, SL food. No other consumables (didn’t know for unbridled fury since I did it day 1).

Agatha - 2 shot on fire mage, 5 shot on ele shaman (both severely undertuned, was dying on boulders). Used normal gear and normal consumables. Later on, did like 15 attempts on warrior with normal gear, got overwhelmed too fast, so decided to buy some old gear, and I actually 1 shot it with old gear + crusader. Made it trivial, even easier than fire mage and ele sham I suppose.

Raest - Did with frost mage, under 10 attempts. Easiest of them all. Normal SL gear, SL consumables.

Sigryn - Did with retribution paladin, that I absolutely SUCK AT! So no excuses for ya’ll. Sigryn is really easy. 20 attempts (most of them were figuring spells lol). Normal SL gear, normal SL consumables, and I didn’t even know retris have a slow - would be alot easier to kite the melee guy).

Tugar - Did with WW monk, which I suck at even more at paladin. Done in SL 200 ilvl epics and blues. Severely undertuned by any means, really too easy.

Xylem - Did with Havoc DH. Incredibly hard, hardest of them all. It wasn’t so challenging to overcome the P1 survivability challenge, as it’s 100% skill based, but was really tough to beat the dps check in P2. Had to get old gear, old consumes, and still had alot of heartbreaking low % wipes. Hardest of them all.

Black rook Hold - Quite unforgiving actually. 1 small mistake is a failed attempt since the teammates are made out of tissue paper. Last phase is the hardest though, since the heals crit alot of shamans, and the way that mastery works, meaning I would sometimes heal myself too much and kill the teammates with the explosion.

I got it, but armory is bugged here on forums so i can’t swap to my main

Done all on:
Monk ww+brm
Shaman ele+enha+resto
Hunter sv
Mage frost

Had zero fun doing it.

Raest: frost mage with sl gear. No old consumables, very easy.

Agatha: fire mage, same as above.
Also completed it with fury warrior and a lvl 52 rogue. Fury was a walk in the park, outlaw was harder, had to really focus the adds. Used bfa flask and pot.

Sygrid: arcane mage. Probably the easiest, just stack the 3 bosses and blast them down.

Kruul: Vengeance with heart of azeroth and cloak.
Kinda easy to survive. Lot of cc for the adds. Very low st dps so you’ll be there a while.

Healing challenge: lvl 50 paladin with bfa gear. Took a bit of learning, especially balancing your health in final phase. Used bfa consumables.

Xylem: Havoc dh, very very hard. Used bfa gear with sockets and benthic azerite, bfa consumables, tbc weapon oil, sl runes.
Took over 200 tries. Go arms.
