Social Contract

Am i the only one concerned over Social Contract ?

Ive played wow since 1.12, and played league of legend since season 1

im known for trashtalking alot, and during season 5 Riot games, changed their policy on the Tribunal system/suspensions
lots of, people starting getting banned, now, the game is known for having a toxic reputation, and im the first to admit, when im stuck with people that play VERY negatively for 40 minutes id o get tilted, and i don’t mean “lose your lane” i mean literally 0-12 build random stuff if u ask them to build defensive and wait for jungler and you to raom they would just tell u to shut up and that u r noob, eventually i get tilted, and i flame them back, and i did get banned, multiple times

so wow is getting the same approach, and my first account silence ahppeend when i made a group for the Fallen Charger mount and i didn’t invite players fast enough and the massive reports got me silenced.

i appealed, and it was closed 2-3 times, before the 3rd day, someone actually checked my case, and did in fact reverse the penalty, and warned me, next time i make a group for a rare, to be sure i can invite and that the rare is up

now, fast forward for some time, when solo shuffle was introduced, i got a prot paladin running it down spamming /dance and breaking ccs, i got tilted, i falmed him, i was reported, and ik was suspended for a week, it is what it is
now, i don’t want to lose my account, on a game i loved and played for half my life, because of this social contract stuff, but i do understand i cannot do anything about it
I reviewd my own case, what i said etc, they sent me log
personally, i wouldn’t ban myself, or for the matter alot of people for just disruptive chat, specially if its not in public chat, because we have a mute button and system, and as long as someone doesn’t rly go overboard and is just trashtalking i personally do not care, same as someone approaching me and ijnsulting me, i do not care, they can say w/e, its gonna make me mad every now and then, but my feeling is more on the “im gonna go in bg find this person and try to beat him/her” than "i wish this person wasn’t playing the game

Recently, league as just stepped up on their ban and policies, trigger words, warnings, and its gotten crazy
on 10 games of 5v5, minutes yourself = 40 players assuming you never met anyone twice
i got notified for my report successfuly punishing someone, around 20 times. that means, half the players i met, were punished for something, and i got a warning myself too and i got the log and everything, and the log just cracked me up.

nice
i mean
zzz
im afk.
idc u can press no on the ff
this is unplayable.
they have been diving botlane for 10 minutes
gonna farm the jungle.
k
ALL: i got more farm than neeko
ALL: means im better

this was my chatlog, in 40 minutes game, and this is a warning to me, that i might be puinished, obv i wasn’t afk in the game, i was getting camped and i meant “i can’t do anything, i might awell be afk here, can’t farm fcan’t fight, can’t even sit under turret”

somehow the system and the reports got me awarning anyway, and i feel, like this is where wow is going too, we are going into a place where weveryone has to act like bvots, never open the chat becasue the ammount of trigger words is so just so huge that is just a risk to say anything, assume the gender of someone ? thats a ban, make a joke ? thats a ban

in my last wow log one of the lines i had was
me “I feel bad for joining BG today”
random “imagine feeling bad about a game, cry”
me “i feel bad for using PI on a f**** waste of Pixels like u”

now, obv this is not the only thing in the log, but i find it funny that was in the log of what got me suspended

am i the only one who’s scared of the direction this whole thing is going ?

tldr: social contract pro/con

It was named TOS/Eula before we have always had it, just be polite and keep your thoughts to yourself and your account will be safe. There is no real reason to swear at all shows lack of respect for players and restraint by you.

Probably
Tho’ there are other people too I guess who not realised, it always existed

No, they’re expecting compliance and respect from a player base they regularly disrespect.

They became oversensitive over everything after they got hit with the lawsuits in California.

its not just them, i think overall the internet world has become kinda like that, we get less and less tollerant and in a not so far away distant people will get offended even if you say hi to them and be triggered and feel entitled to rep u and maybe ban u

It’s because the western world has bent too far in a single direction where feelings are more important than facts. Hurt someone’s feelings by simply saying you have a different belief to them even without any malice and they have massive breakdowns over it.

The only people who are scared of this direction are those guilty of the behaviour.

At the end of the day this is a 13+ game, players shouldnt be free to sprout abuse at other players.

So no, im not scared of the direction. If someone is tilting, walk away from the game, take a break from the activity. Tilting helps no one and rarely communicates anything important.

The easiest fix to your dilema is to simply make friends as progress as a premade.

im afraid.

Facts is pointing out someones misplay.

Becoming abusive towards someone is fully a emotional reaction to a situation, the person whos tilted has effectively driven the emotion into the situation themselves.

If people spent more time telling players what they did wrong and why they are bad instead of just tilting at them i dont think there would be near the problems that exist today.

The issue is simple.

Pug content, is rarely good content. Theres a reason why mythix raiders etc etc are considered to “play a different game to the average” and its true.

The pug enviroment is extremely unstable compared to the premade players.

yes the american century and we living in it ;p hope it ends soon lol

telling someone ‘‘do this’’ or ‘‘do that’’ in LFR and get reported=ban btw… i had such warning to me. (i said ‘‘DO NOT USE HERO ON PULL’’)

It’s not a huge change from the rules that were around already, it’s just an additional simplification to basically justify punishment for anything. Just don’t talk in group content with randoms and you’re safe.

While true im just saying objectively theres a difference between a fact and tilting

Agreed.

Its less about games changing its more the players it was always against ToS to he verbally abusive.

Rhe issue is back in 2004 - 2012. Players didnt report the behaviour. The internet was alot more open and people who occupied games would say things people would be cancelled for today.

The problem is not the ToS. You do not get banned without reports, the newer generations are just easily offended at the slightest anger and smash report

look man, if i am top dmg healing kills and carrying a flag, and i see a healer literally passing mme by and not even healing while i get trained by 4 people in bg, and im like /bg “where the f is everyone?” and i get banned, this is wht im talking about.

Other players don’t want to hear your whining. Also swearing at people while sitting behind a keyboard doens’t make people scared of you. They are probably just laughing at you when you do that. You talk about the game having a toxic community now. You’re a perfect example of “toxic” from what you’re describing.

If you want everyone around you to play well , don’t play with random people.

Do you randomly go outside and swear and shout at people who don’t do stuff you like? I suspect you don’t.

i ain’t even gonna bother.

edit: perfect example of snowflake.

Perfect example of someone not having a single orginal thought and using an “insult” he doesn’t understand.

Imagine not being able to control yourself over a computer game to the point that you’re sitting worried about your account. I agree with you about the automatic bans though.

It’s like a wow toxic handbook, They all say the exact same phrases and words to random pugs. As I said, I bet you don’t speak to people like that in real life.

well your writing make it sound like u fastforward everything and just commented on a whim, first of all, i enver denied to be somehow toxic, i often trashtalk, and ive been gaming for 20 years, and thats definetly not gonna change, second i wasn’t appealing at unfair bans, as i perosnally wouldn’t bam m yself, or most people ive seen banned over some trigger words or chatlogs in the first place, im arguing, w/e its actually a good idea to have this system or not, since league has clearly been more in decline since season 5-6 and, thats when they indtroduced their punishing system, im still playing league, ive played it since season1, and same goes for wow, im gonna play it regardless, but ud laugh at some chatlogs ive got on league that got me in trouble, literal TYPO that got me perma.

they should have open voice communication when joining a party
