There’s a PvE scaling?

Thank God for people like Rextroy

Please , remove PVP scaling , stop listening to lazey people who cry about getting stomped in PVP .

If you get destroyed in PVP by someone cause of his gear you should not complain , start gearing up your self , then come back stronger and fight

PvP scaling is the reason why I stopped Retail and I’m waiting for TBC Classic Arena. What the point of playing a game when your gear doesn’t matter, only trinket and corrupted proc effect is gamechanger.

Gear should matter in PvP.

haha what a joke

This is sad. Go in with garbage gear for maximum effectiveness. I knew blizzard tends to have good ideas but extremely terrible implementation of those ideas, but this takes it to a whole different level.

BTW, Well tested. Well made.

This is how you make an actual pvp issue video. Not like that weird warlock dot one.

Oh man, I feel for those who have grinded visions to socket their gear. I know people who have burnt themselves out doing it.

Blizz, address this please… Silence here is just a slap in the face.

Recently, Blizzard game developers publicly stated “Our mentors are leaving in droves” for jobs with better pay and conditions.

So you are actually not wrong here, I wouldn’t be surprised if whoever made this system no longer works for Blizzard, and the rookies are baffled while they try to dissect code and reverse the effects of said system.

As I posted in the other scaling thread:

Finding out about scaling has really changed my view on world PvP. I mean, it was always imbalanced garbage, but I figured if I geared up enough to where I could just shrug off a 3v1 etc I could at least have the satisfaction of laughing at the gankers.

The whole tank fantasy is about being immortal, to go around the world fearing nothing. I’ve soloed world bosses. Those level 122 rares people run in fear from I just jump in and start smacking.

Add to this the +50% damage done to tanks in PvP.

Basically, no matter how much effort I put into my character, there’s never going to be a point where I can fulfill that fantasy of being ungankable by a few people in world quest gear and I will be disabling war mode in Shadowlands.

Wasn’t perfect but it was as close to perfect as it ever got.

Patch 4.3 is the golden age of gearing systems. Nothing was better before it and nothing was better after it.

For pve:
-4.3 heroics drop 378 gear
-Justice Points are earned in dungeons (uncapped) and can purchase 378 gear from vendors. Including some actual tier pieces from Firelands!
-Valor Points drop 397 gear and are capped
-Dragon Soul ilvl was 384/397/410 (LFR - NM - HC). All gear was set in stone, no warforging, no random sockets, no corruptions, nothing!!!
-You could reforge unwanted stats, such as over-cap Hit. Ye, REFORGING! I miss that a lot.

The gear had about 20 socket slots and you could enchant almost everything.
Dragon Soul was a horrible and long lasting raid, that’s true. But the gearing system was damn near perfect.

Gear of old also had plenty of “systems” but all of those systems were in player hands to control.
-20 gem slots
-enchant almost everything
-reforge stats
-tier set bonuses
This is all in player control.

Current “systems”
-random titanforging
-random singular gem slots
-random corruptions
random random random random random ffs
then blz comes in blazing white glory and lets us skip this RNG with a massive un-fun menial grind. 10 000 echoes m8 and you can have it

PVPers had even simpler system.
Buy Vicious 377 ilvl gear for starting out
Farm honor for 390 honor epix
Farm conquest for 403 conquest epix
Get high rating to gain a slight boost elite gear (410 ilvl)

Simple, effective, fun. Perfect system that was replaced with a total nightmare and mess.

Tfw when you have actually seen more competent people on some other servers than on official, well-paid for Blizzard server. Really, the circus for some reason called “development” either have put in a magic code and have NO idea how it works (incompetence, grounds for firing or other disciplinary action), or they DO know how it works and put it in anyway (malicious intent, grounds for firing or other disciplinary action). Or perhaps we are witnessing just what happens when you treat your employees like crap and they leave you a parting gift. Think a ticking box that smells like nitroglycerin, wonder what might happen, eh?

Here Blizz, have some tips made by my brain on lazy morning:

#1: Restrain that out of control item level gap. Flatten the power/ilvl curve. Top-geared people shouldn’t have 500% HP of freshly leveled people just because they have Mythic Farming Clown suit on. Because this then “makes necessary” safety measures like scaling to ensure top people don’t merrily jump around 1shotting said greenies. So don’t allow such power gaps in the first place.

#2: RESILIENCE BACK YESTERDAY. So players don’t need dumb scaling or Mythic grinding to get gear that allows them to survive more than 3 seconds of PvP fight & not get roflstomped. You want to play PvP, you have to use PvP gear or be a soft, squishy dummy on legs.

#3: Find whoever put that “magic pvp scaling” and introduce them to magic of employment termination without notice or whatever it’s called in US. Considering that their labor laws are 3rd world-class mess, this should be easy.

#4: Hire a whole team of people like Rextroy whose one and only job is finding such crazy loopholes, items & abilities whose damage doesn’t scale with anything, etc. Oh, and perhaps offer those people who already work for Blizz better salary than competition? So, y’know, they don’t run for greener pastures after 1 month or something when they can put “worked for Blizz” in their CV?

You really screwed the pooch on this one. If you’re going to do complex PvP scaling, you need to either thoroughly test it using in-house analysts, or open source it to the community so that stupid issues like these are highlighted quickly. From a development point of view, you need to write a bunch of unit tests to ensure that objectively better gear does not mean objectively worse performance. This is pretty basic stuff.

As someone who has just gotten back to the game, there is an absolutely shocking disregard for PvP and PvPers. I have so little faith in Blizz getting anything PvP-related right so I would much rather Blizz just be transparent about how the scaling works.

That’s been all of BFA. Imaging being forced to grind PvE content to get stronger, but then you find out doing said content made you weaker all this time.
