Sockets in PvP feel bad - SO MUCH for: "the most alt friendly expansion”

These [Vicious Jeweler’s Setting] are such a bad ideea, making pvp such a sweatfest… Getting full conquest gear should be enough, I feel like this is not a good direction to go in PVP.
I dont want wow to turn into an Asian MMO that has 9000 upgrades for everything and and no point to have a full character…
I was going to transfer the extra honor I got to alts

Don’t play mmo if you don’t want to farm gear.

Thats a kinda poor mindset. It works for PvE since that is the entire content where as for PvP gearing is to most people just a mandatory chore we go through in order to actually play the game.

To get gems right now its 112500 honor per character, if you buy the bloodstones its still 45000 honor per character and a staggering 351000 gold.
If sockets were capped at one per week it would feel less unreasonable but for “the most alt freindly expansion” its not feeling very alt freindly at all in terms of PvP gearing.
At this point i´d prefer if vault made a return n just deal with the rng instead.

yeah its crazy expensive to gear in this expac
each enchant is 30k gold
then sockets are like 30k gold in stones and 5k honor each

each character in your warband to fully gear and socket and enchant would costs you over 2 million gold

and thats not including the crafted gear options
crafted gear is easily 50k a piece with fee and materials

Sockets need to be purchasable with conquest in my opinion as an alternative without needing the bloodstones

Yea so much for it being a “the most alt freindly expansion”.
It’s such a rip off, it almost feels hateful of them to do some of the stuff they do, like soulbond recipes from quests instead of them being warbound and stuff like this.
Imagine playing multiple alts…

It would’ve been alt friendsly MAYBE if they made it so all PVP progress is done on all characters at the same time. If i earn these gems with honor I get free soubound ones on my alts, but no this would be an ideal and its so far from what we got…

Crafted gear doesn’t cost 50k with mats and fees. I have 3 crafted 639 pieces and I paid maybe 30 grand in total including crafting order tips.

Is it THAT powerful though?

I saw another MM hunter in a BG yesterday who was boasting about his epic crafted pvp weapon. I don’t have gems and mostly of my gear isn’t enchanted at all → https://worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-gb/character/eu/ravencrest/nicarao

Anyway, I made 2x his damage at the end of the BG (yes, we both played in comparable situations).

In general I prefer all players having the same gear in PvP, it is much more newbie/alt-friendly, something we need for more pvp participation. On the other hand, this new bloodstones are amazing as 1. a long term motivation, 2. a good way to make gold in AH as PvP-player, and 3. their additional power is not THAT big IMHO. I’ve sold almost every bloodstone I’ve “farmed” so far, good bank :moneybag: I don’t have the feeling I’m slacking behind (not even in Blitz) for being unenchanted and ungemed…

Its abit like racials, its not “gamebreakingly revolutionary” but it certainly helps. Its a few % of extra damage. If you factor in both enchants and gem slots the difference becomes quite significant.

My plan is just to run cheap enchants on conquest gear only that i wont instantly replace n then get 1-2 gem slots, i atleast want the PvP gem but after that i dont think i care enough to grind it out.

i still have no socket on my main.
and idc

I ment to buy upgrades as I keep forgetting and still blasting left & right in solo shuffles with accidental destruction :joy::person_shrugging: but gems overall isn’t designed “to make a huuuuge difference” it’s simply a little help.

Where’s the player retention aspect in that? In the end Blizz wants to make a buck much more than it wants you happy.

What do they gain from you seeing everything TWW offers PvP-Wise in 1 month? Except for you unsubbing due to being bored?

I agree with your take, but it will never ever happen and thinking otherwise is naive, at best.

Sockets are really tiny upgrades, irrelevant if you look at the bigger picture.

It’s the last shred of character progression left in pvp, leave it alone. If someone grinds his character in pvp all season he deserves this little power spike over someone who didn’t.

They’re pretty easy to get. You can also get them from the unbound chest and the wpvp chest can drop the gems needed. Enchants are always expensive at the start, the price will drop soon enough.

Gear is easy to come by now for pvp.
This expansion is probably the first time you can make allot of gold with the recipes and gems that drop from the chests. Made about 500k from just pvping.

What gems are you talking about? Played like 300 shuffles and blitz, never seen anythihg useful.

A PvP Socket Setting costs 12500 honor. Why are we acting like that is a big deal?

If you have a little patience, you get your sockets soon enough just by playing the game. You don’t NEED fully socketed gear right off the bat, but if you really want it, I guess you can buy the Vicious Bloodstone things off the AH…

We can talk about how expensive enchants are atm… but Socket Settings for PvP definitely aren’t the problem

Buy flask of vicious honor and battle standard of coordination from guild vendor (+ enlistment bonus) thank me later
