It did what it was meant to do. It’s basically the same as gear set bonuses that will replace the system of shards of domination.
Saying this was pointless makes no sense. It’s point was to provide bonuses during the course of the patch.

If we are going with borrowed power, tier sets would have been great instead 
most players liked it, myself included.
The better ones would become baseline passives post-expansion, or talents at the very least. We could do this with leggo effects as well.

The only value this system had was to be yet another piece of evidence that the game would be better if the system devs just didn’t show up for work.

Yep, im now glad that I didn’t care to farm or even use that resource this whole patch

I do not mind them going away. The process of getting the shards, upgrading them, on top of still having to get the pieces with sockets was a real pain to aquire. Considering this I am actually glad they will not work in the next raid and dungeons/pvp. I would not want to go back on an alt into SoD just to get the shards and the pieces required for it, plus upgrade them, in order to make use of them next tier.

it was tied to 9.1.5 raid, I’ve always assumed it would become irrelevant in 9.2

I agree with you on most points. However, only just peaking with gear with a couple of weeks to go during A tier is not one of them. It should be possible to get most of the gear from HC with plenty of time left. That would even give guilds the opportunity to have A stab at mythic raiding etc. Further, the dire gear drop situation from the current tier is something unique isnt it.
Absolutely. I don’t consider getting everything from HC to be peaking with gear. That would be getting everything at max ilvl with all bonuses unlocked. In the current tier, it would mean having all the dom shards at max level and the relevant mythic raid gear to put them in, along with maybe some pieces at 252 from the M+ vault. As someone who is far from elite (I only just time +20 keys), I’ve come close to reaching that. If I’d had a few more raid weeks before my community decided to take a break, and we’d got Remnant down, I would only lack 259 items from KT and Sylv and a couple of 252s from the vault that I currently have at 246.
I don’t think so. It took me a few attempts at Ra-Den (with others in the group able to trade me) before I got one HC fist weapon in 8.3 (the only one I got). The drop rate in SoD seems similar, with the additional chance to get items from the vault.
I have 2 characters sitting with almost every slot at 252 (my druid has only 2 slots she can upgrade now, on multiple specs), so the drop rate from M+ hasn’t been shabby either.
Gotta love how many of these systems lately don’t even last an expansion, but rather just a single patch. Same with corruptions.

i have like 30 on my mains and 0 on alts that got gear through weekly timewalking quests/4mythic dungeon quests. sad state of affairs
they should last even shorter, like a second in the mind of the person who thought of it and then never again

What are they anyway?
I’ve had some in my bags for months, and never actually worked out what they were for or how to use them.
Should be better if the shards could attached to any armor slot, all base gems provided to all people.
Gems could upgraded by the weekly quest baseline.
But if you did high end content (m+, non lfr raids, rated pvp), you could upgrade them to max lvl faster.

Good. I thought these sockets were silly from the point they were introduced… when announced, I honestly believed they were DK specific, because of the names, and it took me a while to work out they are for all classes. Way too convoluted.
