Sod catch up mechanics

Tried to get back into sod after a few months off… Really difficult finding consistent groups to get undermine coin for gear. Most the time it’s lfg half the evening.

Can undermine also drop with quests that give experience?

Finding coin runs is no big deal on alliance atleast. Make your own groups. =)

Lol still takes ages.

PvP gets nice exploitative catch up mechanics every season, pve needs the same.

No it doesn’t take ages. Just tank it yourself and you will get a group going in less than 3 minutes I guarantee.

Im sensing this is where the problem lies.

Not bad idea btw, they did the same in WOTLK, where some of the high lvl quests give some amount of heroism embelms… They can do it with some end-game quest chains in sod as well, that’s good idea. I think 1 coin for each 55+ level quest (except of repeatable or daily), 2-3 coins for elite 55+lvl quests, and 3-5 coins for end of big quest chains.

Perfect… because at the moment the catch up mechanic is very group dependent… will become more so as population dwindles or population gears up. The catch up mechanic should not be a time sink.

Doing 50 quests should be enough to fully catch up on tier 1 for example. Dungeon set 1 can be like 30. Tier 2 can be as it is currently cost wise.

Wdym? plenty of coin runs going out every min

what server u on?

Which server are you on?

Coin runs aren’t the problem, the problem is really what comes after that. you need exp and full gear to get into kara runs, you need exp and full gear to get into AQ runs, so basicly the catch up mechanics are great but not good enough. Guilds dont do old raids anymore to help others get gear and be able to run now naxx. and without gear you wont run naxx. so im currently just leveling alts, make some gold and Push M+ on retail. Cause the gate keepers to raiding and the highest dungeons. are the players themselfs sadly. they see you wear 1 blue item and kick you while i know after 20 years i have the skills to make up for it. Since guilds are now focused on naxx, new players have no shot unless you have some friends who will carry you to victory. my strategy now is to level my tank, and start farming gold with him to eventually be able to buy the gear i need. to get into raids cause applying to many everyday clearly is not working since i spend more time waiting for hours without result and playing Heartstone on the side xD

It’s not gate keeping, it’s just that the game is designed so that at some point you’ll need to socialize and find a guild or a fixed group of players to raid with.
Pugging everything isn’t the norm. We should be happy it’s even possible because it wasn’t a thing in Classic.
We’re not supposed to be able to farm all of our T2 without stepping into BWL.
Pugs will ask for more ‘proof’ of your abilities because they don’t know you and don’t wanna bring dead weight. The only thing they have to determine your potential level is your gear and/or your parses.
If you come with a new char, there won’t be much to see but can you blame them if they pick someone else ?
Honestly I recommend finding a guild. Even if you don’t have the time to raid consistently 2 nights a week, guilds always look for socials to run dungeons and kara crypts.

you can get t1/t2 gear with coins. About exp, just watch a video on youtube before going to not fail on mechanics, there is no other way to check your kara exp as there are no logs for 5-ppl dungeons, at least for now xD

U don’t n eed full exp to get into kara runs but yeah it’s a harder dungeon so ofcourse people would want u to have atleast some decent gear and tbh u will have a higher chance getting into raids as a dps or healer than tank

there are dps checks on 2 of the main bosses in kara, so yes you do need full exp and gear to run it.

if your dps is lower than 1.5k as a dps role, its an auto-fail because you don’t meet the dps check.

4x t2/t1 (from real vendor) won’t get you there on their own.
you need at least some high tier weapon and neck/trinkets/rings and shoulder rune enchant to even have a chance with that sort of gear.

and even IF you met this requirement, which won’t break you past 900 gear score (i know lol gs cringe lol) you’re going to struggle hard if there’s not at least 1 dps “carry” which will break more than 2k+ dps and a very solid tank and/or healer on top.

i’ve had multiple lockouts ruined by bad players that lied on their credentials.

“oh yeah, i’ve cleared it on 3 chars every day for a week” and then the guy doesn’t know how spider nest burn mechanic works.

“i have 1k gs” and then shows up with barely 800gs.

“i have experience and high numbers/health/healing” -is sub-700 dps single target, can’t keep tank alive or tank is squishier than squish.

this happens almost every time i decide to break my own rule of thumb and run with a pug.

people wonder why they struggle in pugs when they, themselves, create the very problems that scare the good players away from pugs.

if you bring plague into town, don’t be surprised when the townfolk avoid you… like the plague.

Berny used to be all about the journey, but now Berny only cares for leveling as fast as possible and having the best stuff all of the time.

really so thats why you get inspected for raids and dungeons, to see if you are fully geared using items from the SAME raid or dungeon… trade is full of them… my chances of getting in 1 are already 0. wont change if i was tank or not. however if it keeps happening i will somewere just quit really. i already seen alot of friends who stopped playing because of this. and before people say… go ahead quit we wont miss you… eventually you will when the population declines.

Best part… i have a guild… who tells me to get fully geared so i can join naxx lol xD

what server u on in sod? because that right there barely seen it

If they’re not willing to run a few catch-up raids/dungeons to get their mates up to naxx level, then either they don’t need you or they don’t deserve you.

I haven’t done a single Kara Crypts in pug yet and I’ve ran it every day on my main. We have a few guild groups depending on what time who’s available and it’s nice to know you have prio on items you need or are willing to help your mates get the items they need.
Pug in SoD is very random and can easily feel disheartening.

We had to take a pug mage once on our kara run and even though he was around 1050 gs he couldn’t pass 600 dps, went afk on most pack mobs but for sure rushed the first relic so he couldn’t get kicked out of the group. It’s what makes me understand why pug groups ask for so much exp/gear etc. but really getting a decent guild with a friendly and active community makes your gaming experience much more enjoyable.
