But it would be so much better without runes and damage that is to over the top you cant even have a good duel.
Dueling most classes now, its an absolute zug fest. Rogues for instance in a one vs one environment are insane. You die in 3 secs…
When is blizzard going to understand that Runes havent worked.
Give us the new content but for god sake bin the over the top runes.
I dream of a day where i can sit a cheap shot without getting a grey screen… i dream of a day where you can actually counterplay pvp situations.
Vanilla classes were so special… cant help but feel runes have only damaged the game.

To fix this awfull predicament… all Damage needs to be nerfed by 30%.
Also the runes that are just straight up bonkers Mutilate for instance … evenom …
Dot damage … lava burst… all these spells are just broken. Im sure there is alot more i could think of.
Would love a server with the new content but without runes.
Runes are fun, I like runes. The utility ones. I don’t really get the point of runes that just give +% dmg. I think having damage runes only for historically struggling classes and only 3 rune slots in total would’ve been cool.
They just messed up at balancing the runes
Some of them are a MUST with no other options because they are too strong, others runes are complete useless trash. It could be a good experience if they would do like nerf all strong runes by -30% and improve all weak runes by +50% or something like that.
But not havin these runes at all would kill 75% of playable specs.
No more feral and balance druid, no more shadow priest, no more ret paladin, and the list goes on.
Personally after a long time away from WoW it was more a case of opportune timing with SoD.
For those of us not burnt out from the several other variants of the game its a foot in the door
It absolutely does have issues… but my understand is its that its not like its going to be around that long anyhow due to its seasonal nature so just enjoy at face value
No… the real hype comes from “now i can play a feral druid in classic, that was useless back then!”
Yes they could have made class tunings without all the runes and that would be a good idea. But not just “we add new raids but most class specs will stay as useless as always”
I mean sod is still popular. But its slowly dying.
Phase 1 were the most players playing, phase 2 less so. Phase 3 even less players.
About runes. I think they are fine to have ingame. But some runes are in the wrong spot for some classes. And some runes are pretty useless.
Why not just make runes avaible on all pieces of gear. You can make your own “meta” or use runes you actually want.
Yeah i understand its easier to balance with runes on specific piecies. But sod was suppose to be fun aswell.
When i heard about SoD i was thinking more of runes that affect the actual existing spells and abilities to make them and the specs that use them more viable.
Instead of that we get many new abilities that repalce old spells making most of them meaningless.
Good examples that are well done:
Everlasting affliction. Improves an already existing spell.
Master channeler. Enables the usage of a spell that was almost useless in classic.
Pandemic, enabels critical strike chance for already exisiting Dot spells.
Bad examples: (overtuned new spells that have no vanilla flair)
Incinerate
Chaos bolt
Haunt
unstable affliction.
I guess i am not alone with my wish “how runes should be” but we have to accept it how it is and can just hope for some balancing at least
It’s something new and that brings out the hype, once we have the full game people are gonna drop off quickly. Especially since pvp is bad in sod both with class balance and faction balance. What are people gonna do at endgame with their gear, just raidlog and wait 60 minute bg queues?
Sod has endless potential but so far everything after phase1 is rushed and we’re basically playing a beta.
SoD is popular because its new and old in the same time. Its a mess but hype will carry it trough. + most people come here to raidlog because they are low for retail mythic raids, and here they can flex with the 2 button rotation classes on bosses with 2 mechanics.
i don’t think pvp will be fixed because the people mentioned above need it like this, they can feel like a good player if a duel is finished with 2 spells, if the opponent has time to react, then the science runs out.
Think reality is that many people are being held hostage, they’ve invested time into this and refuse to accept that is not anything close to what they expect so they instead cope with the fact that phase4 will be better.
But overall think they main reason is popular is because lots of people enjoy the vanilla content, and is even more appealing now that is easier to level, many hated the slow leveling it had before. Think if you’d remove the runes and the new “raids” out of the equation people would play just as much for the classic content with greater leveling speed and more casual friendly approach.
What i wanted is that they change the exisiting spells that were weak or useless before to be viable in sod.
An idea would be: Rune of Pain "applying curse or recklessness/shadows/elements now also apllies your highest rank of course of pain for 24 seconds.
Or “rune of swift cortuption: corruption now ticks every 2 seconds instead of 3 seconds”
Or yes maybe even “rune of spamming: casting shadow bolt decreases the manacost of your next shadow bolt within 5 seconds by -50%” you get now what i mean?
