Personally, SOD doesn’t represent the classic+ dream,
with every phase it becomes less and less classic, what happened to keeping the same fundamentals and philosophy as vanilla but tweaking a few underperforming specs and adding brand new zones / quests / raids
SOD has taken it too far and were not evening at level 60 yet, the amount of changes since P1 is crazy, class nerfs and buffs are endless and its becoming a chore keeping up with all of it,
I’d honestly be happier with a 2019 repeat, fresh vanilla into tbc, because SOD feels like a blackhole with nothing to work towards plus its a season so everything we have will be nothing soon enough,
given the choice would you still play sod or do 2019 again, vanilla into tbc?
I enjoyed phase 1, but my interest dropped like a rock when phase 2 began for some reason. I could barely bring myself to play. Given a choice between the two, I’d personally go for fresh into TBC. That been said, I’m content on Era atm.
They probably should’ve focused on more new content to explore not just giving new abilities. Few tweaks for classes was good, but now they just throwing new and new runes and it is too much.
I would rather explore new dungeon with an old class rather than same old dungeon with new class.
I’d have liked if they completed unfinished zones that we never got to see. I’d also be very partial to more end-game activities in the open world (which I believe SoD kinda has? But I don’t play it anymore so I’m not sure about this). As for class changes, I’d have settled with giving underperforming specs some love, maybe leaning into the support aspect of hybrid class specs like Feral, Enhance etc.
Imo, i was hoping SoD was more lvl 60 content, with a few adjustments here and there to make all classes viable.
I still believe lvl 60 with raids will be fun. But it got waaaaaay out of line in PvP
Im not getting my hopes up, level 60 is where power levels really start to ramp up, and classes are already doing 1.5k dps, i can also see some really big runes being added which will break pvp even more.
I reckon they made too many phases.
Cutting the leveling into different phases is a good idea to let everyone enjoy the leveling without feeling the dreadful grind it used to be but after a while you just wanna hit max level, have a decent class-tuning with all runes on the table and focus on new content.
I would have gladly gone from P2 to P4, especially since P3 doesn’t bring much for a nearly 3 month phase.
I felt I had done it all after the first week. I was Rank 7 and ST didn’t bring me much better gears since my bis weapon was found in ZF. No new PvP event, no new rep worth leveling and PvP being a giant mess, it’s hard to have fun playing it.
Classic is 90% about leveling and gearing, and they ruined both. You spam incursions with dumb XP buff, get free gear and raid log. Its sad because the runes , raids etc are cool but they just dont understand Classic
Was just having similar convo with the guildies and it was unanimous that we’d jump into a fresh classic in a heart beat since we have horrible expectations for level 60 aka phase 4.
There’s something special about the way WoW was built, mind you on older infrastructure and with all the means and all the technology devs have now at their disposal (20 years later) cannot produce something better besides doing some copy + paste of spells from other expansions and call them runes or re-working the NPCs in some dungeons that were designed 20 years ago and call them raids.
The idea with SoD was good, it started pretty good as well - is just the place where we’ve ended up now is far from what we thought it was promised or the direction we thought SoD was taking,
Might even quit in phase4 if the dungeons and gear dropped from dungeons become obsolete and only thing left to do will be weekly raids. I could understand in early phases using a level 25 raid item until level 50 because of no better options, but if ST items will be better than the items we get from dungeons at 60 (aka end-game) it will be really disappointing.
We were excepting a decent (not perfect) balance between PvP and PvE, having to mix and match items from both “game modes” to suit our game style and be able to do both PvP and PvE as we would see fit, however is far from anything like that.
I’m not even sure why we got PvP flagged servers if all the balancing they do is focused around PvE, not even around PvE in general but around 1 raid that won’t matter in couple of months. They should have made SoD a PvE only game from the start and their lives would be easier and that way many of us would have not invested time into playing under the false pretense that PvP would also matter, because this way it seems like they’ve deceived us into thinking they’re aiming to cater the needs of both pvp and pve players while to me is clear they mainly cater the needs of casual PvE players above all others.
To be fair, Blizzard locking r13/14 until AQ was a dead giveaway they weren’t going to do that from day one. P4 is going to be 95% pve (Raidlogging) and by the time you can get the r14 gear it’ll likely have become already obsolete due to the itemization changes/new sets they’re introducing
thats fair ofc, each to their own, personally i think tbc was far better than what we got now, class balance was better, the raids were some of the best weve ever seen, yeah it had some flaws but overall tbc was a good experience, cant say the same for sod right now.
I honestly went back to Cataclysm which was one of my least favourite expansions but its still 100% better than SoD as Season of Discovery should’ve been about discovering new content, yet all we got was abilities borrowed from multi different expansions…The only new thing was Warlock/Rogue/Shaman tanks and Healer Mages…other than that the “new” abilities are just watered down from expansions. Heck, they planned to do Azshara Crater back in classic which was scrapped, but that would’ve been cool if it had made it into the game…Classic+ is just a dream that will sadly never happen and as soon as Aggrend said us “players” don’t want hard content and we just want to “blast” through the content, I lost interest honestly they really should stop claiming what we as “players” want because they clearly don’t have any clue because last time I checked the servers population has dropped from a lot of the servers and even the guild I was in only log to raid Sunken Temple, then log off again…How is that even fun? Incursions also made it extremely frustrating to do old dungeons which are needed for books and runes for some classes also. TBC was considered good in my opinion because it had a lot more content to do, that was a variety of things for different tastes that we all have, but SoD is more…You either accept what we have or bugger off to the other versions of WoW we have.
