This has likely been discussed many times, but I am one that highly advocates for the implementation of solo arena queue in TBC. I cannot see how it would be a detriment to the game. Personally I am an anti-retail player so to say and would not like endless retail features to stream into TBC, but the solo arena queue is definitely one that should be highly considered.
It would encourage far more people to play in arena, and you would be able to jump in for a few games at any point during the day, without having to schedule a time off to do your 2v2/3v3/5v5 arena for the week, which can be very tricky for many people, at least on a consistent basis, especially if you are doing PvE as well, with scheduled 2-3 raid nights every week.
I am curious how other people feel about this, and, if any (which there probably are), what would be the cons of such an implementation?
Work 50 hours a week and still find time to commit to an hour or two for arenas with friends - I don’t see how it’s that taxing?
Arenas are predicated on comps and synergies, i.e. you go in with two feral druids in a 3v3 team, you’re gonna have a bad time. SoloQ would result in random comps that lack synergy a lot of the time. Also, whole point of Arenas as a competitive environment is that you put in time to push those ratings with teammates - it’s an MMO.
You need a lot of practice to get good at arena, a lot of people are discouraged from playing anything other than 10 games per week because they feel the pressure of being bad
Without solo queue private arena realms would be long dead, that’s what keeps people interested
I’m not convinced Arena is pug friendly. It would be a s**t show randomly pairing classes in teams. 2 weeks after an implementation like this the forums would be spammed with “remove Arena premades, we are getting wrecked” etc etc.
so you want to queue solo for arena 2s, 3s, 5s?
then you’ll have more problems regarding that “bad setup, wrong class spec, un-geared ally, noob…etc”
it’s much easier for you to just make 2~3 friends & then queue with them!
if i had to find mates in order to queue for dota 2 games like the way it is now with wow teams i wouldnt even play, team system is garbage af if you’re alone and wanna grind compared to retail system where you have your own cr
you cant have soloq in wow cause of comps but retail system would be 10x better than teams for 2s, in 3s i believe soloq can work cause it worked in old AT
Solo q rated arena NEEDS to happen ,not only on TBC classic but on Retail too. Or at least implement retail system to classic . I literaly wander around Shattrah City for hours looking for someome to play arena with. You are stuck with same teammates basicly entire expansion, there is no way to play rated arena outside of arena teams, you have to preset time and date to play with someone, you have to make bunch of new teams , grind mmr all over again, its hell. I usually play about at 1/2 hours of arena every day on retail and tbc pservers, i got like 2 hours of arena last 4 weeks, its redicilous, expansion just started and im planning to quit next week if nothing changes .
1000% agree with you ,and its true, arena team system is trash, thats why it got removed , i want to spam games all day not to presate 1 hour a week with someone, if they cant give us solo q they can atleast implement retail arena system
not everyone has friends to create arena teams with, sometimes you gotta play with randoms from lfg, but if you don’t like playing with randoms then retail system will help you even more because you won’t have to team up with those randoms, you can just leave group and push with someone else, and if you wanna play with your friends you can still q with them
