Solo queue BG

I have been having a blast in this mode. Finally, a type of PvP I enjoy playing. However, I do not quite understand how the score is determined after winning a match. Sometimes I gain 150+/-, and other times it’s only about 10 +/-.

Could someone please explain the ranking/scoring system, and how it works?

It’s an ELO system. You can read it up on the internet if you want to know how such a system works.

If you want a super simple explanation, there are 2 parts to a rating. Your actual score and your mmr score.

Since you just started playing you start with an actual score of 0 and a mmr of 1500. You’re basically rated at 1500 no matter what your skill level is when you start.

When you win a game your mmr goes up and when you lose your mmr goes down. How much it goes up or down depends on the mmr of the opponents.

If they’re ranked higher than you, you gain more points than when you win vs weaker rated opponents. The same is applicable to losing games.

Now in the start phase your rating almost always goes up as long as your actual rating is way below your mmr. In your first few wins you’ll notice that you’ll earn 192 points. That’s because your mmr is 1500 and actual rating is 0.

The more you play your actual rating and mmr come closer together.

Let’s say after 10 games you’re at 1500 rating and your mmr is 1600. (which would mean you were able to beat teams higher ranked than 1500 rating)

From now on you’ll earn way less points vs as 1300 team (maybe only like 4 or something)
When you’re able to win vs a 1800 team you’ll still earn (maybe like 28 points) since this is way higher than your current rating (and also your mmr).

I’m bad at explaining
