Solo Queue RBGs: The Best Thing to Happen to PvP!

Hey fellow PvP enthusiasts,

I can’t contain my excitement about Blizzard’s latest addition to World of Warcraft—Solo Queue Rated Battlegrounds (RBGs)! For someone who loves the thrill of world PvP and the strategic depth of battlegrounds, this is a dream come true. Finally, we have a mode that makes rated battlegrounds accessible and relevant to everyone, even if you’re queuing up solo.

For years, many of us have preferred the chaotic excitement of world PvP and the larger-scale battles of battlegrounds over the more rigid formats of arenas and solo shuffle. The introduction of Solo Queue RBGs changes everything. Now, we can dive into competitive PvP, earn rated gear, and enjoy high-level content without the hassle of forming a premade group.

Here’s why Solo Queue RBGs are a game-changer:

  1. Accessibility for Solo Players: No more spending hours trying to assemble a group or feeling left out because you can’t find a premade team. With Solo Queue RBGs, you can jump into rated battlegrounds anytime, on your own terms.
  2. Balanced and Fair Matches: The matchmaking system ensures balanced teams, providing a fair and exciting experience for everyone involved. This levels the playing field and makes each match more enjoyable and competitive.
  3. Rated Gear and Rewards: Finally, we can earn rated gear and other prestigious rewards through battlegrounds alone. This opens up a whole new avenue for gearing up and progressing in the game, without needing to step into arenas or solo shuffle.
  4. Strategic and Flexible Gameplay: Unlike arenas, where every comp has a counter and the gameplay can feel like a chess match, battlegrounds offer a more flexible and dynamic experience. There’s more room for improvisation, and the objective-focused gameplay lets classes and their toolkits truly shine.
  5. Reduced Toxicity: So far, I’ve noticed a lot less toxicity compared to other rated modes. The team-based nature of battlegrounds seems to foster a more cooperative and positive environment.

For me, this is the perfect solution. I never really enjoyed the structured, intense nature of arenas or solo shuffle. But with Solo Queue RBGs, I can finally participate in rated PvP content that I genuinely enjoy. The excitement of capturing flags, defending bases, and strategizing with my team is unparalleled. And the best part? I can do it all without ever stepping into an arena or solo shuffle again!

In my opinion, Solo Queue RBGs are a fantastic way to keep all forms of PvP relevant. They provide a refreshing, strategic, and accessible PvP experience that stays true to the spirit of World of Warcraft. This will be the mode—and the only rated mode—I participate in during the upcoming expansion. Of course, world PvP will always have a special place in my heart, and I’ll continue to enjoy it whenever I can.

Thank you, Blizzard, for listening to the community and bringing this much-needed feature to life. Solo Queue RBGs have revitalized my love for PvP, and I can’t wait to see where this new mode takes us.

See you on the battlefield!

P.S

Nobody can blame their faction now :))

I’m not a pvp-er but noticed this
These wins count toward the Legion win 10 RBG appearnce unlock or not?
I will not bother if not to be honest

I’m excited for this too, there are classes I like to play but only in BGs and not in arenas. So I’m excited to see if I can get their elite sets only with Solo Rated BGs.

However it has already happened to me that people quit the game in the middle or just go afk. The penalty is not enough to prevent that and they might ruin the experience for the rest.

Haha. I can’t wait for sh** storm what is about to happen. Prepare for forum crying about bad matchmaking, unbalanced classes, unbalanced teams, etc…

I love rated bg’s and am sad that, much like how the 2’s bracket died with the introduction of solo suffer, so too will rated bg’s when blitz eventually rolls around. Only, rated bg’s population has already been on a massive decline for years, I can’t see how this doesn’t just finish it off.

Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

Agreed. This little talked about TWW feature is actually huge. I played a bit of Battleground Blitz in DF and really liked it, but didn’t stick to it because without ranking it feels meaningless.

I don’t like 2v2 or 3v3, but BG Blitz is fun!

Time to AFK.

Ideally, I really want this to succeed too! It has a lot of potential! But, I really fear the effect of Solo Shuffle also coming into play here…

I mainly play healers… And due to the shortage of healers in SS, I tried multiple times playing a super low CR healer, there is no way the game knows whether this is some multi R1’s alt, so, even the games I went 4-2 win, I gained maybe 5CR myself, but if I went 2-4 I lost like 80cr… At the end, I just lost motivation…

Due to the above mentioned problem, a lot of times people care more about their MMR and CR… As long as your MMR is high, you gain your CR back again fast. This leads to scenarios where people lose the first 3 rounds and leaves, because it punishes their CR, not their MMR. And oh… you played with that person the first 3 rounds… Bad luck, means you have no chance to redeem yourself for a tie…

I am not a dev, so I have no idea what a solution could be. I just know, that SS for me personally felt like too much of a hassle in my experience bracket than what I wanted to invest

PvP is already a joke… why would this change that?
