I’ve been going through the forums and clearly solo shuffle mode has a lot of problems (and people with strong opinions about it). I recently started playing it and quit it after 2 weeks (at around 1500mmr), I wanted to share my observations why that is.
The players
Every solo shuffle game has at least 1 player from the following bracket:
The blaster - usually a warrior / rogue or a warlock - one that will get 5-6 wins and is just destroying others to get to higher bracket,
The noob - one person that either just entered solo shuffle or has no idea how to play their class - this person usually decided the score of the game for everyone:
if its a dps, the most likely outcome for others will be 3;3 and rating unchanged,
if its a healer, its good news for me because i get to win more than 4 games, dps will still get 3-3,
The game experience [Healer]:
Game starts, usually there’s always at least 1 player outside of LOS and when he died he complains about lack of healing,
As a healer, your main job is not to heal as priority, but to make friends with the nearest pillar and hug it as tightly as possible,
Should you decide to pursue the LOS rambo player, be ready to hear one of your favorite songs in your headphones (if you’re using gladiatorSA addon). It goes something like this:
“Cyclone, Poly, Cyclone,Storm Bolt, Cyclone,Fear,Cyclone,Poly,Hex,Cyclone,Blinding Light, Kidney shot”
It’s a pretty short song (around 10 seconds, 13 if you trinket) and usually ends with one of your teamates dead.
In most cases, the dead player is the “noob” described in point 1). since the noob rotates 3 games with every healer, usually the game finishes with 3:3 for them and rating unchanged.
Rince and repeat.
I reached around 1500 rating, then I had 4 games back to back with rating unchanged, got frustrated and never touched shuffle again.
Improvements
Whoever designed “Rating unchanged” should be fired. Shuffle game lasts between 10-25 minutes and after 2 hours of playing, I had 0 progression. I wouldn’t mind if I played 4 games, won 2 and lost 2 (that way I would see my rating moving), but playing 4 games with rating unchanged is extremely demotivating to continue.
the matchmaking needs to change - today in 95% of shuffle, 1 player is the deciding factor of score for the others. If there’s a noob in the lobby (and in every single game I played there’s that person - it’s being singled out after 1st game, after which he’s focused by both teams for the rest of the match and ends up with 0 score - Can’t imagine his shuffle experience), the game almost always ends with 3-3 for a healer.
Cc should be removed or heavily reduced - otherwise prepare for long queues as dps - No reasonable healer will play 25 min games while being cc’ed for most of it or learning the colors / architecture of his favorite pillar in arena.
before writing this I spoke with a couple other players in my guild (healers as well) - none of them play shuffle anymore, for exact same reasons mentioned above.
Solo shuffle concept in itself is very cool (fixes the lobby issue for standard pug 3v3 where I join a game and either I perform perfectly and we win, or after 1 loss I’m being booted out and forced to search for another team (despite often not being my fault, dps went out of LOS and complained about no healing).
However today healers won’t touch it because of how abysmal the healing experience is.
Just adding my 2 cents, pvp was fun but it’d rather stay away from shuffle and play something that doesnt have my cycloned / blamed for most of the time.
Idk cc was not a problem and shouldn’t be, it’s a part of arena gameplay from 23423 years. No point to play arena w/o cc.
The only one problem is toxic gameplay with random ppl on rss and stressfull gameplay on heal, i mean every game on heal is a stress and every 3:3 or game vs heal with 200poins lower mmr is dumb and just anihilate a passion to play further
Classic example when u don’t want to continue, like what is this mmr selection?
Both heals are struggling and trying to control/carry the game but zero exp dd can do any random stuff to ruin it, it’s just a random https://i.ibb.co/XC3pLGD/pepega.png
Main issue in SS are disc priests…They not allow game to make natural selection of players, instead priest healer can propel very bad player to 2k
Because priest toolkit players which play with priest can be complete dumb and still see wining screen, its toolkit turn noobs into gods.
If guy not using his defensives at all for any other healer except maybe monk its AUTOMATIC lose, while priest still have chance to see wining screen with such a guy… and thats what makes priest abomination
The class got nerfed and you still complain about it. Solo Shuffle above 2,2k rating:
97 mistweavers
41 druids
34 shamans
30 discs
Also funny that you’re a resto druid player, your class is by far the strongest and also the most toxic healer to face in 2v2. We can nerf Disc even more but then make sure to send druids to the chopping block as well.
Wow, I was not expecting that much toxicity - but I guess this is wow community - the first comments will always be from trolls and butthurt kids.
My rating may be low (I did mention that I’m at 1500 and didnt try to hide it, you coming here and only bringing it up only shows you have nothing constructive to say), but I did put a 1000 solo shuffle game in the last months + I am speaking about the game mode experience - not the MW gameplay. Learn the difference.
Some people will agree, some will disagree - the undisputed fact is that if I queue as a healer I get a game instantly. If you queue as DPS you will have to wait for 30 min because healers don’t want to play the mode.
Blizzard seems to acknowledge the problem, but tries encouraging in completely wrong way - they increased rewards for healers to queue - which for me only means that I get to suffer 1 game less now to get my weekly conquest cap on a lazy week.
I like solo shuffle as a concept, but it is not fun to heal it currently.
That’s the main problem it’s NOT FUN to heal with current PVP pacing and healers nerfed to spectator status (lol more stamina but less primary stat). Btw that means healers deal even less assist damage which was a way to make healing role more engaging in S1.
Thus nobody cares about playing, thus nobody cares about rating (except Srav lulw) and rated is rightfully dying as a result.
Ok so after sending a 1000 games on a broken spec in solo shuffle youre hard stuck 1500. Comming to the forum with “objective” opinions to call everyone but yourself a noob. Then when youre greeted with an backlash you deserve…you call everyone toxic.
Why is it always a healer whos the loudest, most vulgar, mean and toxic person of every team? Maybe its because the game puts them on piedestal, maybe because there is so few of them that they can afford to afk or leave the games…because before the dps from that lobby gets another que pop…the same healer can get 30 more rounds in.
Healers should definetly step down from their high horses this expansion…theyre quite literaly unsuferable ppl…not all of them…but holy crap what the solo shuffle produced is insane. Healers can be bad aswell, YOU can be the reason your team losing, YOUR positioning can be the reason everyone is always in los.

Its the exact same “talking down” like tanks do in m+, while never admiting that theyre the ones that fked up.
I have no clue how to play disc and I do far worse on disc than I do as holy as a result. I tried disc because people are all “HURDIHURR, DISC EZMODE”, I wanted to see if it’s really as bad as people say. No. You have to know what you’re doing or you’re going to lose. When I check my abilities as disc it’s like I’m looking at the matrix or something.
If disc was that easy I wouldn’t do better on holy.
I don’t think its healers thats the problem. The total state of pvp is just very very bad imo. You see topics left and right about as to what they believe isnt right. Its a accumulative problem of many things atm
if there is plenty of monks with 55-75% winratio on first 2 pages of ladder, and youre hardstuck 1400 with 600+ games 50% winratio, that means u should change something about your gamestyle and improve, everyone have trolls on their games and there is no excuse to be hardstuck 1.4 more than you, specially after 600 games
