Solo Shuffle Queue Time - Potential Solution

Good evening fellow PVPers.

TL;DR - Let us play healer while waiting in solo shuffle queue as DPS to respect our time

Introduction

I’m new to the game and was going to make a post about my experience from a new players perspective on WoW PVP, but this seemed more urgent.

I don’t really prefer any class or specialization, I just want to learn to play my characters and learn different things. When I play, I usually queue a couple of times with my DPS (10-20 min queues) and end the evening with some instant healer queues.

The Problem

I’m aware there are many problems with solo queue and PvP in general, but I’m going to focus on the healer participation issue. We all know there are more DPS than healers playing solo shuffle, therefor the queues are longer for DPS and near instant for healers.

It seems like Blizzard has been focusing on making it more rewarding playing healer, but this doesn’t seem to have made the impact they would’ve hoped. Ultimately, the reason people prefer to play DPS over healer might just be because people prefer to play DPS over healer, hence no trinket adjustment or improved conquest reward is going to fundamentally change that.

The Solution

I would like to purpose adding the ability to play healer in solo shuffle while queuing DPS. Even though I would prefer to play DPS, I would rather play healer than sit in a queue and do nothing, and I doubt I’m the only one. So instead of queuing 20 minutes, playing 10 minutes (and so on), I could play 10 minutes twice as a healer, and then play 10 minutes DPS, respecting my time when playing the game.

Let’s say there’s a 5/95 healer/DPS ratio, and to make the queues as even as possible, the optimal ratio would be 1/3 (33% healers and 66% DPS). Let’s just assume a small portion of the current DPS players would adopt this feature, say 20%. This would add another 18% to the existing 5% healer participation ratio, which could make a huge difference to the queue times. And if the queues go down, more players would come back to play.

You could even add rewards like the current healer conquest boxes for players opting to do this, or even push them forward in their DPS queue.

Maybe I’ve missed something obvious that would make this unable to work, but it might be worth exploring.

They haven’t made it more rewarding. You get the conquest cap faster, that’s it. Healers get forced into 3-3 games too often and gain no rating because most games you just shuffle around strong and weak dps players and the one with the strong players wins the rounds, making it 3-3 unless there’s several weak players in one game in which case it can go really bad for one healer because people just die without pressing defensives or line of sight you. Mages, retris, warriors, warlocks and DHs are the worst offenders at dying due to not using defensives or line of sighting you.

The 25 conquest token or w/e also took them 6 months to even think about. And they said they are looking into more things which is now longer than 6 months ago. :+1:

So, I end up in a solo shuffle where I only get one win.

I won with DK and DH on my team because they weren’t dumb.

All the other losses was with evoker or warlock on my team.

Warlock ports when I ray of hope him so he dies behind pillar because they just moved to him instantly and I can’t get any healing on him in ray of hope because he’s lining me after the port. He did this multiple times. “HURR, I WAS LOW”. YEAH, NO SHOT. But you kill yourself when I’ve just put ray of hope on you and you port away out of sight, staying in my line means I would’ve gotten a pw:life, 2x serenity and probably another heal off and he would’ve been topped but nope, he has to port instantly and kill himself.

Evoker decides he’s just gonna fly across the whole arena in blade’s edge and then the MW monk just throws down a ring of peace in the middle and he dies. He speeds across the arena multiple times, outranging me like mad. One time he grabs me into melee range so I get CC’d to hell.

They need to seriously do something about these DPS players in solo shuffle, it’s not worth healing SS exactly because of these players. They are throwing and I’m losing rating because of them throwing. Why should I even bother when these players are allowed to continue playing and making healers lose?

This paladin. “why no heal”. He’s duelled. He has all his CDs ready. He dies in the duel and then goes “why no heal”. BRO, PRESS YOUR BUTTONS MAYBE.

This is why you have so long queues as a dps in SS. Absolute clowns of DPS playing the game.

The idea isn’t bad on paper, however this does literally nothing for specs which can only be DPS.

This also creates an environment with even more clueless healer players. Which is bad. Really bad. So say this was implemented, a pure DPS spec waiting 30+ mins to get healed by 2 alt healers who main Warrior, yeah, no. Please God no.

I have nothing against people who are learning, great for them! But having to be a guinea pig in their little learning experience is not something that somebody would deserve.

You go to a restaurant after planning it for a while, and you find out all the cooks are first time cooks with no experience. You get served bad food. You paid full price and wasted your time.

Pretend that’s the same thing.

Now pretend those first time healers should probably learn somewhere else, in a more isolated and safe environment. Such as Skirmishes. Or low rated 2v2. Preferably with patient friends.

Yeah okay, but if you remove all the extra rewards and just let people who play both DPS and healer do this, then instead of queuing for 30 minutes with other DPS, they could actually play the game AND decrease the queue time for the other DPS, that’s just a win for everyone.

Cause I mean if I have 2 hours to play, it’s better for everyone if I can play 1 hour healer and 1 hour DPS rather than to play 40 minutes DPS, 40 minutes healer and queuing for 40 minutes.

Even if this does nothing for DPS (I believe it will generally lower the queue for everyone), it would still do something for hybrid players.

And why limit it to one character? Why not allow a demon hunter to logon his priest and play while queuing, and when he’s done the queue pops for his demon hunter and he automatically logons his demon hunter and enters the game.
