Solo shuffle system

Alright, so i like playing arenas, its hard to find players to play with so i mostly play solo shuffle. And i have to say i hate it.

Main problems:

  • Injustice or at least the feeling of it
  • Many games end in 3/6 0 rating, sense that you dont progress
  • Long queues
  • Toxic players

So as a dps, after you wait a lot of time you finally get a game and you get to play 6 rounds (not guaranteed). The composition of the players are of course 2 healers + 4 dps.

Now, it happens very often that 1 player is just bad, or its not he’s day, or its a bad lobby and he losses every round.

If that player is a dps, it means the other dps players are going 4/6 and win rating, the healers draw, basicaly they play mostly just to not lose rating.

If that player is a healer than all the dps players are in the same situation, they play just hoping not to lose rating.

That is already a problem but a bigger one is when 1 player plays consecutive rounds with that player who is doomed to lose all rounds. On the final rounds it happens often that they just quit which makes the ones who didnt got to play against him lose rating.

Another issue is that once you get an invite and accept it, you get locked in for 6 rounds. If you are just not good, have a bad day, make mistakes, you get a lot of colorful words… from the other players, even if you play good there is still somebody blaming others. The level of toxicity is just incredible.

I was thinking about a different system. What if you queue and:

  • You play just one round
  • Based on mmr you get placed with similar players (like now)
  • Composition is the same: 2 healers + 4 dps
  • Make rule that you cannot play with same players as teammates as the last x rounds

This way you:

  • Always gain or lose rating (no 3/6, 0 rating, no sense of not progressing, playing only not to lose)
  • Since its just one round players get less likely to get toxic
  • If it aint your day you can stop after every round
  • Possible shorter queues as people might queue for “one more game” instead of having to commit to 6 rounds

What do you think about it?

Solo shuffle is badly made mode honestly . They implemented them badly .

For arena if I ever get one or two same minded people I would prefer to play with them rather then this shuffle that serves no purpose but to disappoint people.

They should just scrap it and just make it queue with random people for whole match .

If ow2 can have such system where random people could be queued up for whole match in competitive matches then wow can also come up with such system .

Nobody really asked for shuffle system .

This, and blizz made it with algos that are trying prevent same specs enter same lobby. So when we have bad balancing in the game like we always have and there is alot retribution paladins for example queing the ques become even longer if system is set to look for any other spec first till enough some set time has passed and only then it gives two mm hunters in same lobby for an example. This is pointless and only makes ques longer.

And in arena people have to fight their mirror all the time making it more realistical measure of skill in player vs player ladder where people are put to fight against each other on whatever classes they happen to be, only in shuffle it becomes something else where people benefit more from fotm rolling.

It’s just nonsencial badly designed mode in so many ways and it also made the old participation dependant rated system stop working in every other modes outside of it when people moved playing these soloqs.

You may get better replies if you post in the arena forum:
https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/c/pvp/arenas/

Better how, did you mean to say he would get more replies. Regards shuffles the opinion of arena players are mostly that its bad if you go ask former arena players opinions of the mode which deflated their former mode on arenas.

Some people that had never played any pvp on the past before soloqs might like it, but they are not arena players though.

Fact also remains that the soloq for arena what people asked for is not shuffles. And this mode has so far done more bad than good for the game, and blizz have ignored the state it left pvp on and done nothing to improve it or admit their mistake in adding separate rated mode in participation based ranked system, spreading and thinning playerbase even further.

People always asked them to add soloq for arena, not to invent any separate carousel wheel that even use different rules than arena and plays nothing like arena. They just didnt listen, and we can see how well that went. Ques going over 30 min daily, 7 days a week spending more time waiting in ques than playing the game.

And former way of playing in arenas also left deflated, so only thing left is sit in ques to play badly designed mode of shuffles for 3v3. At this point the best option to even begin remedy pvp would actually be just delete everything except blitz. They made all modes share mostly same seasonal ranks anyway so people just play whatever is most inflated.

Your reply made me think!

It will get more replies but thinking about BG-forum not necessarily better

I only play EPBG, BG and blitz so my knowledge on arena is none.

Blitz is really the best right now, it has its flaws with the abusable que system left open for que syncing and communities wintrade it plenty but other than that it is the best mode currently to play honestly.

I can see the change in some former arena streamers mostly done blitz now too. It is most inflated and shuffle is bit tilting for all, the design is not fun. I like blitz most from its design too, reminds me of what mmo pvp used to be.

I currently have 10x 2.1 in shuffles, 2x 2.2-2.4 in blitz and only one 2.1 in arena this season, so I did play mostly shuffle but I think I’m going to move more into blitz in future, shuffle design is bad for any role or class. With WoW class balancing played with random comps is just not very good idea and some specs will have more bad comps than others.
