Soloing world bosses

So I decided to try my luck at a world boss since I was nearby and the reward was neat.

To my utter surprise, I never went below 97% hp unless I took some avoidable ability damage.

Honestly, I thought it was actually exciting ( mind the huge HP bloat ) and sad at the same time.

I feel like this " World boss " is what should’ve been a 5 man quest, but with bigger auto attacks, or it’s what should’ve been a solo quest boss ( but with nerfed hp, no one wants to spend 5 minutes on a mob )

The " World Boss " had mechanics that kept me active and the fight was dynamic, it wasn’t hard but it was engaging.

I feel like the world is very easy atm, with no real threat besides numbers, there isn’t really any dynamic, most mobs out there in the world, quest bosses or 5 man elites all boil down to patchwerk style fight and maaaaaybe one lethal damage ability.

Another thing that made me happy is the sense of achievement, the world bosses are Huge, and fighting and taking down such a huge opponent did give a nice feel to it, especially since world bosses have unique models.

The world bosses I took down are :-

  1. Azurethos, The winged Typhoon

  2. Ji’arak

Doing 9.81m damage on Ji’arak and 1.44m self healing.

What do you guys think? Yes for more dynamic and complicated world encounters that don’t necessarily have to be super hard or no?

Nerf rogues.

Just come to classic and get killed for pulling too many murlocs.

Been there, done that :stuck_out_tongue: and no classic is the same but with bigger damage numbers than retail.

But I wouldn’t mind classic like uniqueness and damage numbers.

Also… who gets killed by murlocs in classic in 2019?

The whole game is sad

I was about to comment this would be the first time I see a rogue do something solo. Usually they camp in stealth until somebody else engages.
I see this every day on rares. Then I’m like, can rogues really not kill something in 10 seconds, they really have to camp in stealth? :stuck_out_tongue:

What i think is that they level squished 1000 to 266 basically to give us a fresh start, and we’re already at 450 in 8.2.

The decision of making every prior patch obsolete immediately after the new patch release, and keep increasing the ilvls at this pace, results in mobs never feeling too scary.

I remember when i started in nazjatar, things were pretty scary to face. I had to watch out, SPECIALLY as a cloth user, not to get killed if i pull 3 mobs at once.

Now i can just go in the middle of 20 and survive.

Seen an outlaw rogue kill it a while ago.

Funny, I ask myself the same thing every time I see some AD alliance zerg lone horde players.

Well, the reason should be obvious: The ones you fought are older content ones.
But a good implied point in that: Should they maybe scale to latest expac standards? After all, a large number of players will be at that item level then.
On the other hand, the loot is still lower item level, and to compensate for that, you have the Nazjatar boss up at the same time. Maybe Blizzard doesn’t want more weekly world boss loot opportunities for endgame item level.

I think that some of the rares in the previous 2 BFA zones are easier to solo now because we have higher gear and the essences. I can solo some of the rares in the new zones as well, but it depends which character I am using.

WOW in open world is not a hard game and I think the term rare now means rare spawning not necessarily high health for some of the rare npcs.

Try do the same in 300 ilvl gear. They are easy now because you have good gear. This is how character progression works.

too many = 2 murlocs

I actually found the swoops in the tauren region to be extremely hard ,any swoop 2 level higher than your char just recks you :frowning: . Had to make a group to take a swoop 3 levels above.

To be fair these boss were deadly when we had some 325ilvl heroic dungeon gear in 8.0.

Now with essences, 430ilvl and azerite it shouldn’t be too hard to solo if you have enough sustain.

I think many are missing the point abit.

It’s a world boss designed to be taken down by a raid! not 1 guy.

Also what I’m referring to is the fight complexity itself, while the fight was easy it was exciting that I encountered something like that in the world, without prior knowledge or anything I had to intuitively react, abilities hurt and it was dynamic rather than the usual target dummies that deal damage that we call mobs.

Imo It’d be much more interesting if mobs were abit more complex and impactful.

The sad part about it, that to get an interesting fight out there in the world I have to look for a world boss designed to be taken down by a raid to get one, the mechanics aren’t raid level complex but designed good enough to be a 5 man quest boss imo.

Let’s say what if you’ve got a 5 man quest in this patch, and it was Ji’arak and he was the same as he is now but with 5 mil instead of 8 mil hp, wouldn’t it make for an interesting 5 man quest, rather than say those elite naga bosses in Nazjatar?

This is also not a go back to harder content issue, while sure mob complexity can make the fights harder but Wow never had complex normal / elite mobs out there in the world unless it was a world boss.

Huh… I usually just see people stand in front of the mob in group and I just land on my rogue (which is my main) and start stabbing, I also do solo quite a bit.

Nazjatar is very strange, one WB is a tank and spank, the other is a group wiper as no one knows what is going on.
