SOLVED : Fishing help please

HELP, so i’m in Draenor trying to do my garrison as i never bothered in WOD and i’m trying to get my L3 fishing shack which requires Draenor fishing blah blah, anyway i am 35/100 on Draenor fishing yet whenever i fish my level will not increase i have fished everywhere for hours and nothing, when i click on fishing skills Legion fishing is at the top for some reason and i can’t move that and yes i am fishing in Draenor. On my other character he has Draenor at the top of his fishing skills main bar but for some reason my other char doesn’t

update : i have gone to a legion zone and to stormwind as i still have lots of fishing to do and nothing will increase could it maybe be bugged ?

SOLVED : well i don’t know if i’m just stupid or not but iv’e been playing since early BC and not once did i know you could toggle on/off your skill ups in your chat window… :rofl: :man_shrugging: :man_facepalming:

I believe someone said Orgrimmar seems to count towards Shadowlands Fishing atm. Where in Draenor have you tried to fish?

I’ve just gone to my garrison on a char that has 1 fishing skill and it does level up in the garrison :frowning:

I’ll see if I can experiment on another character.

The fishing skills will usually show in order of expansions with most current at the top.

The order the skills are shown in shouldn’t matter.

shadowlands fishing isn’t on mine yet so gonna try fishing there and see what happens.

Tried on an Ally alt instead and made sure I learnt all the fishing expansions available at the trainer

But still I get skill ups in garrison. This is an odd one.

Ardenweald should give you SL fishing, you should be able to learn the skill in Oribos.

You have trained/learnt fishing for each of the expansions?

Draenor was slightly different because you had to fish it up/loot it. Unllike other expansions where we just went to a trainer for that expansion.

Draenor Fish
To get started, you’ll need to loot Fishing Guide to Draenor–either from looting mobs or from fishing in Draenor. It puts your maximum skill cap up to 700, even if you’re at level 1.

i would assume as i have points in legion, draenor ect

Just to illustrate on my main, I have fishing for every expansion.

So if you do not have Shadowlands fishing you will not get any skill ups for fishing up in Ardenweald.

Sorry that I’m just stating the obvious at this point.

Yes. You now have to train Fishing separately for each expansion.

yea i realised that after i went there i think my head was just confused over the other areas not giving any skill ups.

well i’m at at a loss nothing is working no fishing is increasing and iv’e fished all over :frowning:

If you’re using the shadowlands fishing rod, try taking it off and see if the score starts counting up - I.E. use one of the fishing legacy rods or none of them.

Tried that the only way my Draenor fishing skill is increasing is with daily’s as iv’e just turned one in.

no but why would i need that in Draenor or anywhere else ?

I think you need to use the specific baits to level up in Draenor, but it’s been awhile so I might be wrong.

Iv’e just fished up 15 enormous blackwater whiptail from a school and not from a school with the relevant bait on and got no XP from it :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:
