[SOLVED (workaround)] Stuck in crash loop in Faldir's Grove Arathi Highland (classic)

Same problem as described here but can’t post in US forums:

Right now my character is stuck. Every time I log on I instantly crash with the same error:
“World of Warcraft was unable to start up 3d acceleration.”

It first happened when I went underwater to do the quest. When I logged back in it crashed again. Then I was able to log on because I was dead. I was able to run back to my corpse but the moment I went underwater I crashed again. And now I’m stuck there, every time I log on I crash.

Updated GPU drivers + reboot doesn’t help. I’m running a 5700XT, same card as the OP of that US forum post.

If you have this issue try DX11 to get yourself unstuck.

I was able to play in DX11 and complete the content. Then I switched back to DX12 and everything is fine.
