Vanillataur is angry today. There has NOT been an uprorar over the news that the people from SoM are given a free pass to Wrath Classic.
Why is not everybody out screming that they will ruin the server economy and the balance?
Think it over.
They will propbably come over in the pre-patch. With the 59% buff after having had a 100% buff in SoM.
And they’ve had that easy levelling on half-empty servers where they could get ressources, rares, fishing prizes, titles, ect for almost free.
You’re all screaming murderalready, asking for goldcaps etc. But these people will come loaded to the gunwhales.
And I can’t see the justice in making THEM happy and slighting the people of Celebras/ZT and the people wanting Era servers.
As for timing, this is still quite a ways off and will happen sometime well after the release of Naxxramas in SoM. We want to make sure that Naxxramas has plenty of time to breathe before we start this process and players start to find their new forever homes for their seasonal characters.
Have fun moving into WoTLK in 2023 and affecting the “balance”.
Yeah they got to level faster, though I think the majority of chars coming over are a long time lvl 60 - since the first phases of SoM.
I don’t think they will bring that much gold tbh. It’s a faster Vanilla wow server where farming is still a pain and gold is not easily gained. There are way more problems with bots and GDKP’s laundering gold into the current servers daily then there will be of some chars bringing in a few k’s at most.
The thing people are a bit angry about is the Scarab Lord title and mount that the SoM people will have earned. They did earn it fair and square but it won’t be as rare on wrath servers if those players transfer over.
I personally think it’s good that people get a choice. As long as Blizz doesn’t charge them 20 euros for them to transfer to wrath, that is.
And this ofc will be way after the launch of wrath classic that they can come over.
I’m positively surprised, that they offer such a thing for FREE. Would have never expected a service like this to ever be free of charge by activision blizzard. Tomorrow it’s gonna rain frogs
whelp imagine all those level 60 players coming into wotlk prepatch with their hundreds of gold and their low level boe rares that aren’t worth anything…
Yea, I don’t think that transfers from SOM will have meaningful impact on economy as a whole, but minor impact may be felt with enough transfers to one realm. Consider: You can easily level multiple characters to 60 with SOM buff. Those characters can then learn tailo/mining to max level (450) at just level 65 if I remember correctly. Tailo and mining both have cooldown dependent recipes (titansteel, specialty cloths). Many characters with that cooldowns can affect economy, in this one tiny bit.
I can see some sense in the argument, that people transfering from SOM will have easier time creating crafting alts, due to huge SOM exp buff.
Last time I checked there were about 200 people playing on the SoM realm. I think the instant 70 boost will have much more impact on the economy → bots. The transmutes are a fact, but those are really only valuable at the start of each tier. I have 3 70s as well, levelled them without the buff and when the +50% buff comes I will level another one, so it’s not that big of an advantage in my humble opinion ofcourse
It’s a bit sucky tbh - I gave up on my rogue in SoM because it was supposedly transferring to classic only. If I’d known back then the Lk transfer option could happen I’d have stayed with it.
One may be tempted to think people finally have some common sense, but I doubt it. Just give it time, it’s inevitable that someone will complain.
It’s already started on wowhead where someone was complaining that they didn’t pursue getting R14 and Blizz does this to them. And some other dude was crying that this is threatening his precious retail if blizzard should at some point stop continuing with classic expansions and allow transfers to retail, cause the things people got in classic are so much more easier to get than they are on retail … if you can believe it … as if the classic players are plotting here in secret … preparing for the day they transfer to the game they ran away from.
It’s not even THAT good. Truth is, with WotLK’s heirlooms + the XP required from 1-60 incredibly reduced + the revamped talents, it’s a lot faster to level during WotLK that it is in SoM.
Also to keep in mind that SoM still has to end before transfers become available which will be several months into LK … so people’s “concerns” are just crying around cause someone might get to enjoy something.
I don’t think gold is really an issue, you can earn far more gold in TBC than in Vanilla with a lot less effort at that. I’m also not sure if SOM levelling would be faster even with bonuses due to TBC having faster levelling by default, and stronger classes.
I did not play more than a couple of days SoM either because the levelling was too fast, so yes it’s definitely faster than TBCC.
Re the Gold I just look at people clamouring for Gold transfer limits from TBCC to Wrath and extrapolate, you can earn way more in way of G and ressources in SoM and I suppose they’re given almost free choice (not Firemaw) of where to go so influx of toons loaded to the gunwhales inc
I imagine all Grandmarshals and High Warlords, who got titles for camping Eastern plague lands towers and BGs at lvl 30-ish, Scarab Lords who had none competition on dying realm. And while we had to choose TBC progression or joining that titles chase without guarantees of them meaning anything they just cried out for their characters for being carried over to progression realms.
