Some assistance required

Greetings RP’rs

I’m considering trying my hand at RP’ing, and have 2 questions:

Firstly, which RP realm would be best to move my character to? Argent Dawn shows as full but when I checked the subforum for DMF/ER I see people are complaining about dead servers.

Secondly, I need some lore-related help with fleshing out (:smirk:) my backstory. Short version, a commoner living in Stratholme when the culling occurred, was raised as a Forsaken, then fell in Northrend (preferably to Arthas again during an assault) only to be raised a second time as a DK. Is this possible given the lore we have? I can’t find a reliable timeframe for the DK starting zone in terms of the assault on ICC/invasion of Northrend. The idea is that he lost everything to Arthas in Stratholme and then while seeking revenge, failed. Absolutely loathes Arthas but at the same time is terrified of having to face him again, especially after encountering him in the DK starting zone.

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

Blizzard tends to be woefully vague and obscure when it comes to exact details, whether it be dates or population numbers. This is not the Elder Scrolls after all. Generally, the best way to make sense of events is to find their relative place to large events.

The Ebon Blade gained their ‘independence’ just before the events of Wrath of the Lich King.
During WOTLK, there were plenty of opportunities to be killed and raised as a DK in Northrend, either by the Scourge or the Ebon Blade. However, then you would miss the DK starter zone as those events were canonically prior to the large attack on Northrend.

On the other hand, if you were to die in Northrend as a Forsaken prior to the events of WOTLK; it would likely be as a lone adventurer or as a smaller band of revenge seeking individuals who traveled there on a very personal mission. Northrend was still accessible prior to WOTLK, but it would mainly be the suicidal or mad who’d even consider traveling there.

On the other hand, if you were to die in Northrend as part of a small, very ambitious group of saboteurs; particularly if you managed to inflict some damage of note; it would be very likely that your body might be shipped to the Ebon Blade program as that’s just the type of willpower, resourcefulness and general crazy that they wanted in their champions, thus allowing you to also experience the DK starter zone events.

It’d be quite impossible to encounter Arthas prior to WOTLK however as he was firmly frozen atop his throne since the events of WC3:TFT, and only started moving about in a small window of time before the expansion started.

That said, the King of the Scourge hardly had to be able to move to kill someone :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks! Really appreciate it

Will have to modify my backstory a bit then, but it makes sense as you’ve explained it there.

To your first question, I’ll say I personally prefer Steamwheedle Cartel / The Sha’tar / Moonglade, but I haven’t tried the other ones, so I can’t say anything about them, except - as you yourself stated - Argent Dawn is full (which means, from what I hear, it has plentiful of both the good and the bad one might find on RP servers).

RP on Steamglade Sha’tar is not dense, but I have met a fair few RPers there, we have a small non-exclusive community, and they/we are nice people.

As Mahlificia quite excellently answered your second question, I just want to add; even though the ‘raised during WOTLK’ option lorewise excludes you from the in-game DK starter zone events, your DK would probably experience much of the same in general:

The lich king would force you to fight, and kill, your former allies.

I am sure that option could give you an even more tragic story than the in-game DK starting experience, if you fill in some heartbreaking details.

Thanks!

I’m working on the backstory a bit more and I’ve come to a similar conclusion. Push through the start zone and write it off as non-canon. It’s either that or reroll the character as a Forsaken and skip the DK part of the original backstory I’d come up with.
