E.g. you get a debuf in a boss and you must do something when there are 3 seconds to go; you can theoretically hover over your debufs but that’s not that well shown in the game currently; addons and auras etc. help in that case.
What if: they redesigned the UI a bit so it’s more clear when these things happen; if they don’t don’t use it all; it’s ugly if you have a game that is unplayable without addons or almost unplayable.
Yeah that’s true that they are not completely lazy about it, but I believe it is not enough mainly because there is a gigantic spam of spells in this game that overlap so even if you have something special in might be lost.
I was thinking more something in line of a gigantic debuf bar on your screen that denotes “special boss debuf you just got and you must do something about it now to help your raid”; it would make it way more fun.
I mean the game was designed with addons in mind, almost everyone has some custom UI addons + a ton of weak auras anyway. Can’t see them changing it tbh.
It looks lazy from blizz side, but i kinda like how it is now, u got tons of options how u can customize everything in game via addons and i believe if they made any " build in WA" for those stuff u mentioned, at least half of people will complain they are bad or weird and will change them anyway.
You don’t raid mythic, where this stuff gets way more hectic.
Last tier when I was progging on Hungering Destroyer, we had to use 2 different WAs to be able to have an idea what’s going on when healing the debuff. This could never work as a mechanic in blizzard default UI (or it could ok, but it would be way harder to figure out).
But devs know people will use addons to go through the fight, so they design with them in mind. I don’t think this is healthy for the game, it just makes the bar higher for casuals.
They don’t have to make the fights simpler. For example instead of having an obscure debuf on the screen that people need dbm or a weakaura to track easily inside the spam of spells, just make a giga-bar on the screen that is dedicated to “big boss ability you just got and you must do something special about it or you may wipe the raid”.
I’m more surprised this didnt already happen. They have done similar things already like if you get CCd in PvP for instance and DBM was also partially included into the game. The addons themselves would still be used regardless due to customization.
What you describe literally IS ‘making the fight simpler’. There’s various ways they could go about it and something like what you describe is one way of doing it.
I’m not suggesting anything too original (and it doesn’t make it “too easy”) since they make special bars since at least the Yogg’saron fight (though those were mainly raid-wide). They just need to get their crap together and do it more tidy for every boss.
I suspect their problem is “I can’t make a special bar differently for each boss”; but that would be a mistake to do it that way; they should make a few generic big bars/indicators that work in most basic bosses.
^That is definitely the wrong approach indeed. There is no issue with those debufs existing; they are FEW anyway; the only problem is that they are often lost in the spam of spells without addons.
Long story short: do the “yogg’saron bar” (or n’zoth bar for the newer) but for most boss abilities that are special and you must do something about it during the fight.
