So basically i’m a pala tank, avoidance cap, basically bis phase 1 gear.
And even with that gear, i just feel like some heroics are just annoying to the point of people not wanting to join them at all, or are too hard unless you got atleast a full phase 1 bis team.
For example, unless you got a hunter/shammy/mage in the team, SHH, BF and a few more dungeons, they are so grueling, and unfinishable.
at this point of the game, most people who do heroics are alts, with gear that is not optimal.
Like in BF heroic for instance, there are mobs there that hit ya like 3 times instantly, even with a few cc, sometimes i’m just going from 100-0, or the second boss in the same dungeon, you get waves of 3-4 adds, and unless you got a good cc in the team, your team, or if your taunt resisted, another teammate can just get one shotted.
i understand that these are “heroics” but making some dungeons harder than current SSC, with harder hitting mobs in some dungeons than the trash in SSC/TK…thats just dumb.
there’s a reason why people only go for SP/SV/Ramparts, it’s only because the other heroics(or most) are just so “bad”, people just ignore them.
I know this was a rant, and some will not agreee, but i do believe some heroics are just overtuned, and makes you need to bring really geared people or a specific setup, which is kinda dumb.
Get out of here. The only dungeon where CC (mage) is advisable, some might say needed, is BF.
It will get a bit better once you can buy ZA-level gear with BoJs. I did start gearing a palatank in 2.4 back then and, why the beginning is indeed rough, with the extra catch-up gear from BoJs, it’s a lot less painful than it feels like now.
You mean apart from Shattered Halls?
I remember even when TBC was retail i avoided going to SH HC, if it was daily id run it with guildies or well geared players.
I also hated and still hate the COT dungeons because it takes so much time to get there if you don’t have a mage.
This will get easier once we get the NPC in Shatt that teleports you to CoT, but you gotta be exalted with KoT to use it so… yeah it partly defeats the purpose^^
A lot of the time I can appreciate stuff being wonky - like HC’s being too hard compared to karazhan or whatever. But the reality is that everyone has done this at the beginning of the expansion without P1 BiS gear.
Heroics are not a catch-up mechanic. Craft items, do Karazhan (even only a few bosses) and use flasks. Until you outgear the content you shouldn’t consider it trivial. The gearing path of Classic/TBC is one of the reason i like it - plus raids have been nerfed a LOT so they are easier to get through now.
I’m afraid this is one argument that wont hold water, because you likely don’t have professions/crafted gear or even enchants/gems in your gear because you want to be able to cake-walk this content then move onto raids.
Not how the game works, sorry. And i wouldn’t want it to be that way either.
The only HC I really don’t enjoy doing, especially as prot warrior, is Shattered Halls. You need CC on the 6-7 elite mob packs, and if you wipe with 1 left they fully respawn. Immensely frustrating and basically just ‘‘bring mages’’
shh hc is actually not that bad as u get more gear. i can facetank all that and do big pulls, but im t5 bis atm and i do wear a lot more chonky gear and stam than i do in raids for it, so you are right that its overtunned.
only hc i avoid is bf hc and alcatraz hc
Those heroics ain’t hard. We were cleaning those with T3/T3.5 & greenies. Alt are easily geared as much. Heroic mean Heroic, if you take people that can’t press their buttons then don’t take them anymore in heroic -_-
They are weirdly tuned. Harder than karazhan, more on par with prenerf magtheridon levels, but some are easier than others. We done them all with blues and greens… wiping here and there was not much of a big problem. They will be easier soon with T6 and when people farm badges for the P4 patch items.
