There are some of the challenge races that are straight up brutal and impossible to complete without doing the Skyward Ascent trick. Tried everything possible to complete Sulfur Sprint had tried over 35 attempts at that race and nothing worked. I was still half a second off to finish the gold timer. When i did the race doing that skyward ascent trick it only took me 4 more attempts to complete it. Most of races are just unfun and frustrating to get gold medal at.
I used that ability in all challange and reverse challange
And it was so smooth and easy to complete it
but i also use WA to show me speed and so i knew when it droping and i knew when i should press it 
Yeah, I tried a couple and they were painful. Then I read about the trick - basically don’t race, just spam Skyward Ascent - and I decided to give it a miss. I do the races for a challenge and for fun, not to satisfy time-played metrics of low-effort content.
Problem 1 with WoW found, literally needing an add-on in order to do an Expansion feature.
And yes, it is terrible design that you literally have to do the SA trick/bug in order to even time these at Gold, and that is as someone who’s done it. It sucked.
lol Flashfrost flyover reverse. I was beating my head against the wall trying to make the tight 63 second timer.
I have just checked again and they have increased it to 69 seconds… Like damn…
The best results are achieved by a combination of both abilities depending on the race and position.
Skyward ascent has worked the way it does since alfa/beta, good luck using only that ability in flashfrost flyover reverse pre-nerf 
It’s op in certain races with long range between rings but that’s how momentum works.
No addons are needed, the animation is all around the dragon to indicate speed.
So far only remain hard for me: Tyrhold Trial. [EDIT] I just did flashfrost and yeah 69 seconds was way too much, it joined the other races…
It’s strange that some are so short timed like these 2, and others are way more friendly (all other races in Thaldraszus finished with 4 to 6 seconds to spare)
You don’t need an addon. Just use the game visuals. Now, I haven’t tried the dragon isles ones, but I did the kalimdor cup through paying attention to when my drakes spread their wings(and some timing memory).
I’ll get to the dragon isles ones at some point.
Yeah, must admit, SA trick somehow killed my joy of races. Before I liked it so much, but now it’s just spam this trick every time you need speed - and all the races are gold on the first attempt with 2-3 seconds ahead.
