Some questions I don't know where to post

Hello, it’s probably my first time posting on the forum so excuse me if I post it somewhere wrong.

Sooo I’ve played WoW since (technically Vanilla) BC and I’m trying to get back in the game. I always played it like a casual (except for wotlk where I did some hl raiding etc.) so now I have some questions I just don’t understand and any answer to it may really help me out.

Question 1: I’m waiting for a rare that drops something I want, after 30mins sometimes more sometimes less the rare spawns, you start hitting it and suddenly it dissapears. I guess this bug has to do something with the “sharding” system or something. Anything I can do to avoid being thrown off the shard ? After waiting sometimes an hour for a rare to spawn to start hitting it and seeing yourself dissapear when the mobs at 18% health is very very annoying.

Question 2: Again about sharding, recently I explored all the content of the game, being it making gold, farming mounts/mogs/pets etc. When I decided to farm some gold I came accros so many bots farming spots but the thing is they’re not from my server, nor from the “linked” server (I’m playing on Medivh, the linked server is Suramar and yet the players are from khaz-modan/hyjal etc). So certains bots manage to get to low pop servers while they technically are from high pop servers, farm the mobs on the lowpop servers put it on theirs and voila. Can I solo swap from one shard to another or not ? Because bots are literally preventing me from playing some parts of the game ^^. Can’t farm the spots they farm because they hit every single respawn almost before they appear. Farming rep can be as troublesome even if it’s old content.

Question 3: Been pvp’ing a bit also but it seems something is wrong there. Is the damage I do real ? Low geared characters of mine can sometimes do the same burst/dps as my “low/mid” geared characters (374 ilvl vs 454). Do 20k really deal 20k ?

Question 4: Might be the easiest question but while i’m in a capital usually I have the general/trade chat (/2) with all the announces/people selling boosts etc. I went to my settings etc. in the chat box and saw it was activated. Yet when playing with friends they see messages in the trade channels while I don’t see anyone talking. Any idea why ?

I hope I’m not making myself look like a fool for not understanding these. Hope someone can help. Thanks for the help in advance ^^

Yes, it is your first post, and no, you are not posting in the wrong place!

This does sound like sharding, but unless you’re in a group, you shouldn’t be seeing this often. Is it some specific rare?

Not. To force a swap of shards like that, you have to join the party of a player from the realm you want to swap to. Sounds like that’s what the bots or multiboxers or farmers are doing.

If you want to farm gold, I suggest you start with all the WoD raids. You can do each raid on all 4 difficulties on each character each week. One complete pass through all three raids on all 4 difficulties should nett you about 22K. If you want more, you can get about another 10-15K from Mists raids, which you can do on LFR and one of the other difficulties. You can do more, depending on your available time, and lust for gold:

WoD:

Do Highmaul, Blackrock Foundry, Hellfire Citadel, all of them on all difficulies LFR, Normal, Heroic, Mythic. That will earn you 20K-30K depending on RNG.

That will take about 90 minutes per difficulty, so 6 hours total.

Mists:

Do all raids except SoO on Heroic and LFR. That will get you 10K-12K. You can do SoO as well if you want, for an extra 5K, but it takes an hour to go through it all, unless you do buffs and a speed set.

Doing two difficulties, call it 4 hours for the rest, and another 2 hours for SOO.

Cata

All except Throne of the Four Winds are worth doing, but only Dragon Soul can be done a second time on LFR. About 5-6K in 2 hours, including travel.

Wrath

If you still have patience, Naxx, ICC, and Ulduar will give you 1.5K-2K each.

Dungeon:

Skyreach, in Draenor, is probably the best raw gold farm for a non-bot. You will get ~400 per run on Normal, and can easily fit in 10 runs in about 40 minutes, so 4K/hr. I say non-bot, because I think bots havbe a hard time with the wind-roundabout thing, so I guess Blizzard can afford to leave the gold unnerfed for genuine players. (Gold has been nerfed in many in response to botting.)

No. No damage, no health in the game is real anymore. It’s just an illusion, calculated from percentages. Everything is scaled; how it’s scaled depends on where you are and what you’re doing. I have some handle on this in the world for PvE, and I did swot up on the original PvP scaling system in Legion, but they have changed it at least three times since then, so I’d run the risk of misleading you if I gave you my out-of-date understanding. However, it is safe to say that the scaling always tends towards making lower-geared characters more equal.

Unclear. You said you see “all the announces/people selling boosts etc.” but now you say you don’t see anyone talking?

Are these friends of yours on other realms? Because Trade is restricted by realms. Even if you’re both partied in Stormwind, they will see the Trade chat from their realm, while you will see the Trade chat on yours. And considering you’re on a low-pop realm, your Trade chat will be very different from Silvermoon’s.

Thanks a lot for the answers !!

So for question 1, it happens frequently in the newer zones like nazjatar, mechagon and the zones under attack by n’zoth uldum and vale of eternal blossoms.

For question 2 thanks a lot for the tips, I guess i’ll do those things :stuck_out_tongue:

and question 4: I probably failed to explain myself, so I meant the /2 channel and the examples I gave were to be sure you knew which channel I meant. I don’t see any messages in the /2 is what I meant even when friends say they just saw someone post an announce for a mythic +15 run etc. But you just gave an answer to my question. Completely forgot that some friends weren’t on the same server anymore and that servers don’t share the same channels.

Thanks for the time you took answering all my question it really helps

Yeah, those are the zones most affected by sharding, as people join groups in them. But while I’m used to seeing mobs and players appear and disappear meaninglessly with sharding, I think I’ve only seen a mob disappear once while I was actually fighting it. So I can’t account for that.

Please ask again if you have any more questions!
