Some racials are just absurdly underwhelming for no reason?

So, I have been inspecting the racials for all races and I have to notify the worst for being the worst for no reason. All of these are easily fixed to bring them even a bit closer to the other racials.

Blood elf = Purge with 2min cd? Just what is the purpose for 2 whole minutes cd on this.

Lightforged Draenai = 2,5min cd for less damage than basic attack and the other racial is just pointless. So perhaps increase the damage or add a buff to it like other racials have.

Nightborne = 3 min cd for a 50% slow with minimal damage while being the only meaningful racial is actually the most ridiculous one. If even escape artist has 1min cd why the heck this has 3min. This could actually be quite useful racial for certain classes if it had a reasonable cooldown, max 1min, perhaps even less.

Worgen = 2min cd for a small speed increase just feels quite useless once again. Requires either shorter cooldown or a root break with same cooldown.

Peace

Yeah it has always been one of my least favourite things about creating a new character…

I always pick what I like looking at, since that is something you’ll be doing the entire time playing… But there is always that little voice in your head saying, “but NE has Shadowmeld, which is much better ”…

I have never bought into the whole… “getting 1% extra performance with a certain race” min/max mindset… But if you play a stealth character, it is mandatory to play NE… A free stealth using Shadowmeld is dumb not to choose, unfortunately…

Any non-stealth based class, I just pick what I like though.

blood elf racial was changed , it used to be OP

as for the other racials, yeah they arent really inspiring,
the Worgen speed boost is nice though

Yep, but it has also been made very underwhelming for no reason. Ofc the silence was strong but this cooldown for just a purge is just stupid.

I wish blizzard untied racial abilities from races and allowed players to choose one during character creation. This would obviously require adjusting the flavor of those abilities to fit other races but that’s not really anything crazy lorewise. At least not after what we had in Shadowlnds where lore was already messed with.

They should also redesign and buff some underwhelming abilities, add more passives, etc. For example, why does the goblin rocket even cause GCD if it barely deals any damage? Why can’t it be used to heal an ally? Why do goblins even need to choose between using the rocket jump OR the rocket? So many abilities are simply obsolescent and require a fresh look at…

I have thought about this for a while and came up with a few suggestions myself for fixing the racials.
This game gets so bland when all you see are orcs and night elves.
So just a few at the top of my head…

First the PvP set bonus:
15% reduced stun duration. Orcs do not get additional stun reduction.

Tauren
Brawn: Increases stamina by 5%. Used to be like that … Now it’s like 6k more health, which is nothing.
War Stomp:
1.5min cd
Stuns all enemies nearby for 2 sec. Does not share a diminishing return with other stuns.

Nightborne:
Arcane Pulse:
2 min cd
Creates a field which pulses around you every sec for 5 sec, grounding all enemies within 10 yds, slowing them by 30% and preventing them from using leaps and freedoms.
Also frees you from movement impairing effects and increases your speed by 30% for 15 sec.

Night Elf
Shadowmeld: Does NOT allow you to immune abilities / cc. Other than that its strong, but fine.

Blood Elf
Arcane Torrent:
1.5 min cd
Steal 2 beneficial magic and enrage effects from enemies around you in a 6 yd radius and restore 20% health and 25% fury/focus/runic power/etc or 7% mana over 5 sec if you hit an enemy.

  • Troll
    Berserking:
    2 min cooldown
Go berserk for 20 sec, increasing haste by 10-20% and leech by 5-40%, based on how wounded you are. While berserk, you cannot be slowed by more than 80% of your base movement speed, and you gain a 50% additional stun resistance.
    .
    .

  • Zandalari Troll
    Regeneratin’:
Regenerate 100% of your maximum health over 6 sec, UNinterrupted by damage. Makes you immune to incapacitate and disorienting effects while channeling. 2.5 min cooldown.
    .

  • Undead
    Will of the Forsaken:
    2 min cooldown
Provides immunity to Charm, Fear and Sleep while active. May also be used while already afflicted by Charm, Fear or Sleep. Lasts 10 sec.
This shares a 20 sec cooldown with Gladiator trinkets.

Yeah if you’re not a human, orc, nelf or dwarf rn you’re doing it wrong as far as pvp is concerned. Shout out to our runners up, gnome&tauren for being niche but forced picks for certain classes
