Some things never change. I had a wow break about 8 years ago in the mid of the legion expansion. I had the break for 2 reasons. One cause my old guild disbanded for several reasons and two cause I got sick and tired of Blizzard’s attitude towards customers. My main was/is Retribution Paladin. And I got tired of Blizzard’s indifference towards my class/spec. And the thing that pissed me off a lot was that a lot of people in forums including me did their job and suggested things to fix the spec. Some people were actually posted maths to prove that its not overbuff. But Blizzard didn’t even bother to reply to them like: Yo dude your maths is wrong cause of random things or Hey mate we ll consider it to see if its working. Damn man, Paladin has one dps spec. If its bad there goes the player base who likes to play dps and likes the Paladin class.
After 8 years I heard at the end of Dragon Flight the Ret Paladin is in good state. And I said well let’s try the War Within expansion. Bought the expansion subscribed and… boom my class/spec is nerfed again… And I said oh well lets join the overbuffed classess train. And I leveled a frost Dk who is overperforming. But you know I didn’t like it. I wasn’t having fun. So it’s like if you want to be in a raiding guild and participate in Mythic raids you should make a meta/over-buffed class and stop having fun. Or you can stick with the class/spec you enjoy and be unwanted in end-game Raiding.
All ret players were yelling about the state of retribution Paladin in War Within about our single target dmg hoping that Blizzard would listen. And today I saw the patch notes. And what do you know? We got a long-term nerf that will affect our dmg in the future when gear gets higher ilvl and a small holy dmg buff. So its like I was never been away. Things are as like 8 years ago. Bad…
As i said i am having fun too with my ret. Thats why i don’t feel like playing my overturned frost Dk. But endgame raiding is another sad story. Especially if you are new to a guild. So whats the reason playing a game if you cant do the things you enjoy with the class/spec enjoy?
You shouldn’t worry about numbers. I started to play arcane back in SL season 4, where it was put into F tier and I had a blast owning survival hunters and destro locks.
Things that changed in those 8 years: the community somehow managed to get worse at the game, so no matter how bad your spec is, you still might be over 80% of the player base in terms of damage. If you also do the proper mechanics, you might be even over 90% of the playerbase.
Just play what you enjoy, and look for a guild that actually brings the player, not the class (there are plenty there).
I played at my peak in Cata but then quit until the end of last year. I came back and played every class until I found one that fit and so was born my main DH as my main.
I don’t care about DPS now. I don’t care what others think about my playstyle though I like to think I’m average/slightly above average. I don’t care about min/maxing, I just play the game to enjoy it.
Not sure if that helps but I guess your time in WoW is all about perspective and what you want out of it.
thank you for the reply. that most of the guilds that want to raid Mythic follow the class tier lists, the meta raid formation, etc. its hard after I lost the ppl I played with cause they quit or they went full casual to find a raiding spot if class underperformance in single target. But you are right. i decided to play what I like and hope the blizzard at last fix it when logs come out.
