Some Visual class effects are bad

Some classes seem to have kind of old visual effects with bad graphics.

For example death knights have a lot of abilities that look very old, and they don’t really fit into the game at all. The red circle and the zombies look really old.

Warriors are fine, but it could be better and cooler. The visual effects of warriors are a little minimalist compared to other classes for sure. Spells like spear of bastion or Avatar also don’t seem to have anything to do with my class as a warrior. Especially spear of bastion seems to be really out of place though, and hence I never use it, no matter how meta it is. Ravager is okay, but I mean… How does it make sense to throw a weapon like this to get more rage? Whirlwind is fine, but the slashing could look cooler and more forceful. It also sometimes feels like whirlwind is clunky/laggy.

When I see mistweaver monks, I don’t think that their green mist looks up-to-date at all.

Mages look good, but shifting power looks really bad and it doesn’t fit at all to the class.

Classes with amazing visual effects are Shaman and warlock for sure

Warriors look ridiculous, and I’d rather have the old effects back.

I’d rather they don’t touch it, as it looks fine as it is - Mist isnt supposed to stand out.

Well, it doesn’t look really “beautiful”, if that makes sense. I mean it’s a healer. Shouldn’t their healing look beautiful? Like it’s mist, but it doesn’t like like that to me.

I think it looks pretty, and thus I don’t want it altered.

Most of the new spell effects look hilariously exaggerated and have so many particle effects I can’t actually see what’s going on

I’d rather have the old effects and animations with more polygons.

And not to add that it’s a bigger drain on the computer with all these unnecessary huge and flashy effects. The effects they had in MoP on spells was the perfect amount of crud.

warlock’s soulfire and haunt haven’t changed since vanilla, while other spells are updated and much more pretty visual wise

they are neccessary because they look pretty and cool

old melee effects are clumsy and look like lagging between different animations with miserable trail-like effect. New animations are 100 times better, visually clear and look like fighting, not lazy waving of your weapon

Glacial advance is fantastic :smiling_face_with_tear:

Sorry broskis, I didn’t wanna roast you there :joy: It just stings in my eye, how some specs like destro lock, mages, and especially Shamans have insanely good visuals, and then you have the unholy dk with minecraft ghouls next to them

Seriously I personally enjoy most of the animations. What got me into the spec was that cool pose when we SOOM.

BoK and RSK looks rly cool and I am never tired of seeing my monk doing a crazy kick with a flip.

Feeline stomp has to be the most beautiful spell in the entire game.

Only animation I do not enjoy is SCK. It looks more like a ballerina spin than a martial arts move and I do not enjoy the green stroke it has. But it is probably for practical reasons to see what is in range so I would not change it.

It’s about time to update monk visuals.

There are classes that got their visuals updated twice before monk got it even once.

Which isn’t necessary.

The old ones were fine, and more often than not better than the new ones. Incinerate and Chaos Bolt looks like absolute trash compared to the originals.

Melee don’t need that, you see them beating you without it.

It literally just looks like a Cartoon fight.

If you mean dog poo compared to the old? Sure.

Yeah, Chaos Bolt looks dope - but I’d rather have big butt Dragon Head being yeeted towards my enemies than a huge blob of green.

That’s the best thing about it.

Templar’s Verdict used to have a pirouette smash - then they removed it with Legion, and now it’s super lame.

Nah.

They going to rework them, as they did with Warlocks etc

What a shame.

It’s because a lot of the animations were longer than the game is designed for nowadays.

The new animations look like a laggy mess as well though. My hands are teleporting all over the place. And when you’ve got Rune of Power down covering the ground, 3 frozen orbs out, and then use Shifting Power, and a swirlie for an ability that will one-shot you shows up beneath the rune… good luck.

And then there’s the fact that tons of animations are homogenised. They used to be unique by race. My Pandaren has completely lost that martial arts feel. It sucks! I hate it. Hilariously though I can get the old ones back by mounting while having the enemy targeted but then cancelling the cast. It looks way better.

Whenever a warrior comes near me there’s some inexplicable red trail of doom after me.

Tons of abilities have no visual effect at all or it’s so hard to see among all the other stuff you won’t notice it. The only way to play PvP is using addons as a direct consequence of that.

Then there’s the sound replacements. The new sounds almost universally sound worse than the old ones. The feral druid sounds are so bad it was a significant contributing factor to me quitting the class entirely. It sounds like someone making weird noises with their mouth and scratching a chalkboard. People have made addons to attempt to bring the old ones back.

Then they actually overhauled them a second time due to the complaints. They sound even worse!

I say add more sparkles to everything.

They once overhauled the moonkin visuals in such a way that I got an epilepsy seizure and had to stop playing it.

They did fix it later though, and fortunately it was something only the druid itself could see.

Sounds like a good plan. Also, there should be a way to make abilities from other classes transparent, so in M+ we can see what’s going on
