[#SomeChanges] What about the boost of graphics?

Yes, while everybody is talking about that chargeable 58 boost… Can we ask for this one boost that won’t effect mechanics, gameplay or game economy?
I mean the GRAPHICS.

For one, I was for graphic #NoChange in Classic. Vanilla has a special atmosphere and a pristine lore that would not get along with the retail graphic revamps. Especially the unique (ugly but true) High Elves NPCs.

Yet when we talk about the Burning Crusade, I don’t know. We jump into quite a Retail-ish universe already, don’t we? So let’s have its aesthetic improvements! There are three fields that may profit:

  • Creatures (critters, beasts, demons, mobs in general - they have been improved one by one for many expansions)
  • Race models (since WoD)
  • Player Character customization (since Shadowlands)

Indeed the customization would require a change in the Character Creation screen (implement the Retail one without the unneeded races), so it’s moot.
But wow, how fun would it be to enter the Wildhammer Stronghold in Shadowmoon as a wildhammer tatooed and feathered drawf?!

Optional? Sure I guess I wouldn’t oppose it, but forcing new style graphics onto the game is a terrible idea.

The older, slightly “dated” graphics style of old WoW is a big part of the charm and soul of the game.

Optional doesn’t work for blizzard because player choice = blizzard work.
as much as I don’t want anything new in tbc, I don’t oppose this if it brings players put off by the oldschool look, which is completely different to being put off by certain content.
However, blizzard won’t do what blizzard doesn’t find extremely profitable.

Nope. Not interested.

No, no, no. Don’t do it. Do not let the poor human males look like snub-nosed clods and the NightElves like stony longears. I get the creeps by looking at the new models.

that’s the charm of it :stuck_out_tongue:

Man, you’re posting on such “NightElves like stony longears” :stuck_out_tongue:

And let’s face the truth, vanilla Humans suffer from a cleft-palate.

I wouldn’t mind it if you was a toggle-option in graphic settings.

Blizzard tried that in WoD when they first introduced the new models.

It didn’t work and inevitably, the old models were erased from retail forever.

All that you’ve mentioned require new animations, not only different textures, so this seems highly unlikely. You don’t see an option to toggle the old graphics in Shadowlands for the same reason, you either have new characters/creatures or old ones.

Nope.

Don’t care for those Disney character models.
If they properly remastered old models, then I would perhaps be interested.
