Mate. Folk use the word - Toon - to mean their character.
Toon is the Geordie word for Town. The Anglo-Saxon word; Tun and said as Toon.
Can’t say I’ve ever heard anyone use or refer to “Scottish rhyming slang”. Usually Scottish people are just direct and blatantly say what they mean rather than trying to adopt a Cockney-style approach to communicating. 
To be fair ‘‘Rager’’ isn’t really a new term to wow, a lot of elemental mobs are named XYZ-rager

Storm Rager
etc
Weird thing to complain about now since they’ve been using this naming convention since the games inception pretty much.

We also use the phrase “Stuck in a rutt”… to an Aussie that means something entirely different.

That too may be a slang/cultural idiom thing then. It’s actually fairly common where I live in England as a gentle way of saying “What are you talking about?”
I know I’ve used it. Any time Blizzard use the term ‘Dismantle’ in a cinematic I’ve been like “Seriously, we need to get you guys a dictionary!”
or Sylvanas “Life is a Prison, and I will set us all Free. This is my new best mate, He’s called the Jailor”
“Seriously! Sylvanas, we need to get you a dictionary, so you can look up the word Prison, and Jailor, and see how the two are inextricably linked! What are you thinking woman?”
Maybe I’m biased, having been born in Geordieland, but I actually do get those Scottish references, except for ‘Rager’ which we usually used to call “A Raging (Redacted)”

That’s true, that tauren pet battle master that is literally called “Merda” 
any combination of letters, means a profanity in some slang somewhere in the world.
‘Skitter’ means to “glide or skip lightly”
Joby is a hebrew name really can be translated to ‘persecuted’
Rager in North American terms means more or less “Wild party/explosive anger” You can use it differently.
It’s an american made game. So it makes sense that they would use their definition of words.
I can assure you, even if i don’t work for Blizzard. That no one at the company has ever said “what do the scottish think?”
