Hi,
my issue is somehow the same, however I am playing using Geforce Now.
My windows 11 display resolution is 3440x1440. The login screen looks okay, however, when I load into the game, the screen is somehow cropped.
If I go to options, I see my screen is set to 3440x1440, which is the exact same system resolution.
What helps is going into the in-game system settings and set the Resolution from 3440x1440 to “default”, which sets the resolution again to 3440x1440 and everything looks as it should.
Is this the same problem?
I have this issue sometime, you can notice it with blurry/uneven text, restarting the game fix it, even during PTR 11.0.2 you could see that they change something when you start WoW, sometimes it make a frame around the WoW window as you launch the game
It is very highly likely from that launching frame.
So… save the cheerleader, save the world … I mean find what makes the launching frame, and that * should * fix the issue
my Specs:
Win10 , Ryzen 5700G , Radeon RX 7600
and every setting turned off in WINDOWS for min/max HW/SW setting
I have a very similar extremely problematic issue since yesterday with SoD. I have a Macbook air M3 with 1080p external monitor. When I launched the game yesterday it booted with 1600x1080 resolution and it simply does not want to change from that. It gives me the option to select 1920x1080 but clicking it does nothing and it still shows 1600x1080 as selected. The crazy thing is that when I launch the Wow Classic Cataclysm client, it boots on 1920x1080. When I launch TWW Client, I get 1600x1080. Re-installing, deleting files, restarting laptop multiple time, disabling addons had no effect.
I’m having same problem, but Nvidia In-Game Overlay being off did not solve it.
For me it happens totally random, it can not happen for several hours, or it can happen twice in 20 minutes. Very very strange, and only on Retail TWW, was fine on DF and still is fine for SoD. Nothing worked so far, it’s so annoying.
I’ll try to follow this also, but I must have the issue happening to even try it as a solution
Reinstall or fix did not fix it for me.
This is still a problem.
While flying about my game will just randomly go all blurry and the culprit is render scale SAYING it is at 100% but my native 1920x1080 resolution is being rendered at 1920x1061 or 1920x1971 I forget which.
It’s frigging annoying.

Still happening here as well. Happened when I launched the game today.
Did figure out a VERY easy temporary fix when it happens, instead of going into settings and changing resolution or monitor, and that is:
Win + Down Arrow (aka the windows shortcut for minimizing) happens to fix it.
It appears to be caused by the game being stretched about one centimeter off screen (I can see bits of the game on my secondary monitor), and pressing the hotkeys will fix it.
Can this be caused by WoW “accidentally” opening in windowed mode instead of fullscreen windowed, and causing the window scaling to be off? Who knows…

Same for me, went several hours without any issue, then boom, annoying change happens again after a short freeze.
The actual fix for me was to go to Menu → Options → Graphics, and the click on the top right button that says “Defaults”, and then click “These Settings”. My screen resolution is now back to 1920x1080.

Was it just a temp fix or you never got the issue again by changing default setting once for those setting section? I doubt this is permanent, but who knows, I’ll give it a try as well.
I’ve also made sure WTF folder has resolution set in config for retail (in my case):
SET gxFullscreenResolution “1920x1080”
Update on this, changing default setting again for those setting section did not resolve the issue, and neither did adding gxFullscreenResolution “1920x1080” in the WTF → config file.
So the game is still causing issues for me. (tried many things so far, nothing worked)
- repair game
- remove and reinstall
- remove all addons
- disable all adddons
- nvidia settings
- windows settings
- and few more things that I don’t remember that other players suggested
same for me, its so annoying, my screen resolution changes automatic from 2560x1440 to 2560x1421 and textures are so strange…we need solution pls
Did you people send a bug report about this problem to Blizzard?
Run these commands in order.
/console ForceResolutionDefaultToMaxSize 1
/reload
/console gxRestart
Tis an old Shadowlands Cvar. Might fix the issue. If it doesn’t just run
/console ForceResolutionDefaultToMaxSize 0
to undo it.

This scripts actually reduce my resolution to weird 2560*1421, maybe that’s what is happening
Game launched in wrong resolution again last night. I did notice a new update for the bnet client.
A quick fix for me was to not set fixed resolution just default, it detects native monitor resolution pronto.
I have resolution set on default and it’s basically a coin toss if the game launches on correct resolution or not. Can you please fix this soon. I have to launch the game like 10 times before i get it right.
Edit: I have left BNet launcher open on background now and the resolution has worked perfectly every time.
this, so much this, bloody nvidia app and its “optimising” wrecked it so, uninstalled it.
