Sony to skip E3 in 2019

Sony will not be attending E3 in 2019. This will be the first time in the 24-year history of the show that Sony won’t be there. They also announced earlier this year that PlayStation Experience won’t be running this year either.

Next year is the 25th anniversary of PlayStation and there have been rumours all year for a 2019 or 2020 release of a new PlayStation. Maybe we’ll get one last batch of exclusive in 2019 before the announce of the PlayStation 5 at PSX next year. A return to E3 in 2020 to show more of the PS5 could then happen.

They will probably announce the next PlayStation sometime next year, but only a tease and then do the same as with PS4, have an event late 2019/early 2020. and then release it 2020.

As for them skipping E3, this year was really a mess of a show from them. Showing one thing, then a break with some panel talking between each. I actually stopped watching and watched all gameplay trailers when I woke up.

Sony won 2018 with the sensational line up of exclusives. If they can follow up in 2019 with the few releases shown this year, they’ll be in a strong position for the PS5 launch.
