Sorry but I'm not sure how WoW survives as the most popular MMO when the graphics are this out of date

Looks good to me would updated a lot of old armor textures to Shadowlands/add more physics to armor and i am happy.

WoW doesn’t need a huge update in graphics, just some more polygons here and there and updated very high resolution textures…

The realistic graphics doesnt belong in wow, but they could work great for another warcraft game, think warhammer: Vermintide style games.

Disagree. I quite like the simplistic graphics.

Bc olits not the graphics you dont like its the art style. The graphics are great for the art style they use.

WoWs graphics are honestly part of the appeal to me. I tried FFXIV and one of the reasons I still prefer WoW is that I like the more cartoony (I don’t know if cell shaded is the correct term) artstyle.

It’s also nice to go to the older zones and see that old 2004-2007 soul. Probably rose tinted glasses here, but I appreciate the old areas despite the aged graphics

i think the graphics are fine though the rest of the game could use a face lift to the current standard but blizz will never do that enjoy card board cutout silvermoon and the rest of terrible looking TBC i guess :stuck_out_tongue:

Sometimes just having the ability to max out the settings makes a huge difference, I remember when myself and Hubs got brand new PC’s around the back end of Wrath of the Lichking. Baring in mind we were perfectly happy with the graphics before, but WOWSERS…

It was a shock, we hadn’t had ground clutter, we had limited view distance, the shadows and lights were minimal and it was just…incredible.

Now I make sure that I keep my PC rig as updated as budget allows, other than art supplies now it’s my main financial personal sink. Lets face it, I’m a Mommy, as parents the brunt of our resources are set aside for the little chap…

But our set aside fun money…Oh yeah baby, gaming PC’s, art supplies and table top games

Off topic but so good to see you back on forums.

Sorry you feel that way

You new to MMOs, OP? They’re never going to push the graphics to a level that older computers can’t run it.

Plus, the game looks a helluva lot better than many of its contemporaries. FF14 is bland and boring in comparison and GW2 just looks like someone vomited over the screen. WoW’s art style blows both out of the water.

WoW remains the one of the most popular MMO’s because of its simplistic graphics that allow poor specs to run the game. Change that and it will go the path of games such as New World.

I love the graphics and art of the Final Fantasy bosses, Everything else Wow blows it out of the water compared to FF14 imo. There is just something off about the rest of the stuff on Final fantasy, I can’t pin point what it is. The single player Final fantasy games look better, for obvious reasons.

I am not sure your mog would survive an update. But i am pretty sure Blizzard explicitly said they wouldn’t update old gear anyways. For the same reason they haven’t updated old mounts. Someone is going to get angry.

If we get updated old gear, it’s going to be new gear that looks like the old gear. Similar to how Tomb of Sargeras tier sets were updated tier 6.

Someone at Blizzard said (during Shadowlands alpha i believe) that the engine limitations are intentional to stop their artists from going crazy with details. Basically a form preemptive optimization.
And if i remember correctly, Overwatch runs on a modified WoW engine and that looks a lot better. Although i can’t find any source for that, so maybe i am just making it up or read some faulty information.

dont care these people can go play classic.

I honestly think WoW is the best looking MMORPG on the market, for my taste.
Quality isn’t a simple matter computational load. It’s, the style, the colours, the rendering tech, the responsiveness, the readability.
I’m not sure I can pin it down to a single element, but in general my eyes are happier looking at WoW compared to most videogames.

That’s a strange limitation to have. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Usually just having an a team lead, art director is enough that.
Overwatch has its own engine I believe, at least in the game wiki it says it uses one called Prometheus. Now it could still be based on the WoW engine but fundamentally is probably it’s own thing. At least Blizzard has a long history of making their own engines, only Hearthstone uses a commercial engine Unity.
