The latest change to Soulburn causes extreme button bloat - there is no other ability that requires up to 6(!!) buttons to utilize.
Previously, Soulburn could be used whenever, before pull, during pull, while moving from mechanics or between pack. Due to the 20s duration the only way to use it is right before the ability that needs to be buffed, this leads to doubling keybind for every single ability that could be buffed - one buffed and one unbuffed. (…or knot on fingers because it is still off GCD).
That is just very poor design leading to akward and inconvinient gameplay. In addition I am not ven sure what was the point of the change - and I am not aware that was communicated neither.
If that was about Nether Portal, removing the ability to cancel aura would be more than enough …or just making it 0 shard cost and be done with it - it is not like 1 shard is costing a lot of DPS anyway.
Current Soulburn state just makes it akward (and painful) to use.
They should have just changed nether Portal to Summon an extra Demon per demon you Summon.
Or you Summon demons the portal summons 1 Demon. Then the soul shard issue was solved.
Rather not give them any ideas about taking Soulburn out too. Blizzard is happy to remove things as soon as someone sneezes button bloat (ex decimating bolt) . Its still a cool addition to our toolkit.
I think they wanted it to feel more involved instead of precasting it one hour before use. Its too bad as the permanent swirly was great.
You can replace your gate keybind with a macro that casts Soulburn too beforehand if its available for example. I did this for gate and healthstone. The others are more situational and im fast enough to press them in time.
What doubling keybinding? U make simple /cast /cast macro and thats it. 1 button. And if soulburn is not on CD, you use that button as normal unbuffed spell
Dont get me wrong, Soulburn effects are very cool and the concept of empowering spells by ‘burning souls’ is very warlock-y. But the implementation went from kinda-OK to very poor with latest change.
