Sound problem

So I logged on and the sound is really weird I need help fixing the problem as it’s just wow

Basically what you just said is:

I logged on and I have a problem but Im not going to give you any details about it other than its sound, and I still expect you to deploy telepathy, and tell me how to fix it!

So, heres what you need to do, you need to

  1. Reconfigure the flux capacitor interlinks with the thermal discombobulator.
  2. Post some real info.

If I turn my character toward a speaking npc it’s louder in that headphone

That, to me, sounds like normal stereoscopic behaviour.

I kinda have the same problem in Classic. I first started noticing it yesterday. It feels like all of the sudden, the directional sound feels like it changes really sharply. Like when i look at the enemy im fighting against, its all good, but if i tilt the camera even a little bit to another direction, most sounds from the mob are almost inaudible on the other earpiece. And if the enemy is slightly further away, the sound is very faint.

It wasn’t like this earlier this week either, it just recently started happening. My audio settings haven’t changed and its not like this in any other game.

I started having these exact issues as of today. I have the issues in both the retail and classic versions of the game.

UPDATE: After uninstalling the latest windows update (KB4515384) the sound once again works as it used to. I’d advise others to try this until a proper fix is released.

I can confirm uninstalling the listed Windows update has solved the issue. Thanks Blackpyre for discovering the fix.

Hey all

Awesome detective work to track down a workaround! Looks like that is indeed down to a known issue with the latest update which Microsoft posted about, so they’re aware of it and are working on a fix

Found an additional fix without uninstalling the update.

Control Panel > Hardware and sound > Sound > Playback tab > Click on your main speakers and Properties > Advanced and uncheck Enable audio enhancements

A fix should be released later this month.

Ah, this also explains why my audio is suddenly so soft all of sudden. Usully when I crank my sound up to 50%, it would almost blow my eardrums out. Now I crank it all the way to 100% and still struggle to hear properly.

I don’t have that checkbox on my Advanced Tab. I only have “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device” and “Give exclusive mode applications priority”.

Instead, I have an Enhancements Tab where everything is already unchecked.

Windows Update September 26, 2019—KB4517211
Updates an issue that causes audio in certain games to be quieter or different than expected.

Same problem here, while am fishing sound is about position of camera not about position of character, so annoying

Ok i deleted KB4515384 and problem solved, make sure u pause your next update for next 15-30 days

Deleting the update shouldn’t be necessary anymore, as Microsoft have pushed out a fix (KB4517211) that supposedly takes care of the issue. You should be able to pick that up with Windows Update

im having trouble with sound in wow. first time i logged on today i got a sort of crackling sound…then a load of errors came up on my screen and i lost the sound but managed to log onto the game, not only have i lost sound…i have 2 hunters and both hunters have lost their pets, i have worked so hard leveling them. my main one is lvl 110 but is complete usless without its pet.

I have the same things. I think that it is because of windows update.
