Was wondering why there’s still weekly a cap on Sparks of Shadowflame? For some reason one of my characters that I didn’t play for a while in the season didn’t get catchup Sparks after playing it a lot and now I really do need the Sparks but have no way of getting them until reset…
not sure but i seem to be capped arround the 7-8 total on all my characters. where those who doesnt have that amount get them often from completing a dungeon.
We are curently at like 8-9 sparks ? And each week u get half new . If u make new char now u cant get to those 8-9 in one day , after that u have to wait each week for new half as everyone else who is caugh up
Which means there is a cap. And it’s deep enough into the season for there to no longer be such a thing.
I personally need to craft some new items, but continue to be capped out weekly, and its very deep into the season for this cap to matter in any way. Like what is the worst that can happen?
There isn’t. There is a sliding lifetime cap, which as others have said is about 8-9 by now and increases by 0.5 each week.
Run LFR, run dungeons, you’ll get them dropping regularly as long as you’re below that lifetime cap. You can also buy them from the vault vendor, should your vault not be very good one week.
The problem is my character is capped. In short, im a PvP player, and initially the best embelishments at the start of the season were the Slime / Toxified leather patch for my class. Mid season they get gutted and suddenly nobody uses them anymore, so essentially I had to scrap 2 full crafted items from my gear, which is 1 entire month of being time-gated by Sparks.
The vault can help a bit, but at the same time I still need to craft 1 new pair of bracers and add a vault socket to it…
I understand catchup mechanics and all of that, I don’t have this issue on most of my characters, but some classes are very min-max oriented and 70% of the season has already passed, so I don’t understand the reason there is still a cap on the Sparks.
I suspect the answer is so that mature characters who have been regularly played have an advantage over those who don’t. That’s a longstanding part of WoW’s gameplay and catch up has only ever gotten us “most of the way”.
Sparks are not intended to be the primary form of gearing. Most of my characters have an excess because they are bottlenecked on crests - which is fine because it just means I need to do more content
This is also true. There’s an item you can buy that removes the embellishments.
As far as I saw it, the recraft requires a Spark as well.
Point is, I want to craft some completely new items, but there’s no way to refund sparks from old ones. Meanwhile I have alts with many Sparks laying around, if you can’t uncap them, at least provide a way to send them over through the account.
I don’t think either option would break the game in any way…
It’s at least 3/4 past the season’s start, artificial time-gating feels awful.
This is also correct. You can change or remove embellishments, but you cannot scrap the item and start again.
OTOH, by this point, a character that was played regularly will have geared itself from other sources than crafting. Allowing for 4-5 tier set pieces, then 6 crafted items (8 minus the 2 you are discarding) you really don’t have a lot of slots left to fill. If this character hasn’t played the game enough to generate that gear… I hate to say it, but play the game a bit
Week 2, all my alts send a spark to my main. I craft 8 items at high power level
How exactly does it break the game to remove an artificial limit on something when the season is almost over?
I already said I need to make completely new items.
I already said, that I had to get rid of literally 2 items because their Embelishment got nerfed to the ground and are no longer good for me. That puts me behind at a -2 Sparks or -1 month of Sparks automatically.
Yes, the character has been played. I’m literally at the Sparks cap. But because of meta changes for embelishments I had to start over making entirely new items that need a socket FROM THE VAULT. NOT THE SAME ITEMS to just remove an embelishment for. I couldn’t care less about those.
Example: I had to get rid of my Slimy Boots which have an embelishment by default to get Infurious boots which also have an embelishment by default.
